    Bearing buddy issues

Gee, I have lost dust caps before. The net result was that the grease collected dust and dirt from the road. The bearing, if good and installed properly, shouldn't move much, as you drive. The nut and washer hold pressure on it. Just my experience.

    or better yet Bushmills

    Bearing buddy issues

I suspect you had bearing issues before the 'buddy fell off. Grease should not be ejected from the bearings, if they are packed properly.

    Hesitation at wot help

The enrichener is the choke. On my '93 Merc V6 a solenoid opens with the choke button, and drains fuel from the top carb bowl, into the throats of the other two carbs to enrichen the mixture. You could unbolt the fuel pump from the block and pump the primer to see if it leaks past the...

    Weathered Werner fiberglass ladder delaminating

Gee, Sand it a bit to smooth it and brush it with polyester resin. That is what it is made of. Oh yeah, don't leave it out in the weather for another 20 years.

    Hesitation at wot help

Your mechanic's suggestion your oiler was responsible for hesitation, is way off base, IMO. He seems to suggest that so much oil was mixed into the gas it would foul the plugs upon acceleration, but not at high speed or idle. That would be unusual. Check your fuel pump for diaghram leakage...

    Need help

There are lots of boat seats avail aftermarket. If your seats were unique, you will probably not find an exact match, but you might find something that works. Wise and B&M are a couple of brands.

    Bourbon, surprised!

Although bourbon sales are way down this year, "fancy" bourbons have been popping up more and more in the prev. few years. Last I heard Jack Daniels was suspending production for 1 year and trying to sell its current stock.

    Need help finding tachometer

Depending on your control, you may want Quicksilver harness A-84-86396A4. It plugs into a round connector at the control and powers the tach. The round plug is half round inside, where the connector pins are.

Need help finding new alarm for tiller and fuel pump

Gee, a lot of people simply cap the oil port on the OMS/VRO pump and premix in the tank. The OMS/VRO pump then pumps premixed fuel.

I assume he means a standard steel bearing cap with a zerk screwed into it.

    PSA for inboard gas owners.....

There is a large difference between inboard engine explosive fume risk and outboard engine explosive fume risk. Inboard engines have the spark plugs, coils etc, in the shared bilge space. That is why the USCG created regulations in 1940 about enclosed engines in boats. That is why modern...

    Bearing buddy issues

Steel bearing dust caps with zerks do exist. However, I had a pair, lost one and never found a replacement. Bearing buddies are better at keeping water out, than std dust caps, and are fine for trailers w/o brakes. However, for trailers that have brakes, and are towed long distances, the...

    Bearing buddy issues

Brakes generate heat. That is their function. Heat expands the grease. That is why automobiles do not have bearing buddies on them. Try putting less grease on the bearings. Pack 'em as you would a car/truck cone bearing.

    WTB Service Manual for 1985/1986 ish - 6 cyl - 90 hp - 2 stroke -mercury outboard

A serious bearing behind the reverse gear usually depicts a counter rotating gearcase. Non counter rotating gearcases have a simple washer with some small roller bearings embedded, behind the reverse gear. Also, I doubt your motor's gearcase is a different design from year older and newer...

    MCM 7.4 oil

Gee, why not run what the OEM specifies? Likely it is Quicksilver 25/40 or some other FC-W oil. Auto multivis oil in synthetic, conventional or a blend, are generally not recommended. I am not sure why the PO went to the gearheads, as it sounds like they are auto gearheads. Or are they at...

1996 50hp Merc Force Lower Cowl removal???

It looks like the cowling will not come off w/o pulling the powerhead. However, there is a lower (lowest?) cowl piece that is removeable. Look for some Phillips screws. After taking that off, you should be able to push the cowl down in the back to get to the bolt. Drill the old boat out very...

    Stuck oil filter

Use a strap wrench or Stillson wrench (chain strap wrench) on the filter base. Make sure you turn it the correct way (lefty loosen). A hammer and chistle would work as well.

Quicksilver 44357Q2 Through Gear Case Flushing Kit

Gee, is there any advantage to those fancy muffs? Cheap ones leak a bit, but since you are only supposed to run the motor at idle, they provide plenty of cooling water. It sounds like a solution looking for a problem.
