lol....you mean like this shop....which is bob's indian ? Robin is basically about 2 miles from me. I go there frequently. He is, maybe arguably, the foremost Indian expert.( he makes fun of Harley) His Honda knowledge is concentrated on early Hondas up to around the early '70's.

    Best Deep Cell Marine Batteries

actually...I kinda lied...sort of I use a Duracell and an everstart. The Everstart was my primary battery bought in 2017, when the merc. 60hp was on the boat. Bought the new Merc. 115hp in 2021. Manual said it needs a 1000 cca battery. Everstart doesn't have one, so I got the Duracell. I kept...

    Best Deep Cell Marine Batteries

I also use wal-mart everstart batteries on my pontoon since 2018/19 ? I'd have to check. Actually can't remember when I last replaced them. I use a battery selector switch and an ACR. When I leave the boat I select off. I have 2 solar panels mounted on the back. The larger one came with the boat...

    Artificial Intelligence

not saying that doesn't "solve" the issue, but the"F" part of that doesn't give me warm feelings. I'm talking about before it gets to that.

Tools that younger people would not recognize.

My senior year, high school, 1971, we learned how to use a slide rule. by 1974 ('75 maybe) the TI- SR50 was carried in it's case on your belt by most college kids, like me. I paid $250.

    Artificial Intelligence

every little bit, whether we see the benefit or not, is helping AI expand it's "roots" Saw the "escape" article a few days ago. I do not see how us individuals will be able to prevent security breeches in our monetary accounts once the criminals are able to use AI to it's extreme capability. I...

Porta potty on boat... big need, not so much... need thoughts..

I've got a porta potty on my 24' pontoon. The boat came with a changing room so was easy to add. Comes in handy. If the boat was any shorter however, I don't think I could make one fit. And looking at your boat I don't see how you could.

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

$20,700 +/- (not including labor) just for the addition. Just goes to show why a boat can run into 6 figures easily, and what it takes for engineering and design. Impressive work. (edited)

Pontoon Questions: Jacking it up while on trailer? & What's this called?

I can get under my tandem pontoon bunk trailer and could put a 2x6 across a few ribs . They use these jack screw type support/jacks at the marina. Kinda like a transmission jack. Any access to a something like that? 2 per side with a 2x6 spanning some ribs and lifted just a few inches enough to...

why I still prefer gauges in my cars

so the pull up to the lake showed my normal indication as when new and before the gauge "told" me there might be an issue. It was the thermostat. I tested the old one and it didn't show obvious failure, wasn't sticking and opened and closed...seemed maybe slower in responding....dunno. It's back...

Pontoon Questions: Jacking it up while on trailer? & What's this called?

I would not jack it anything beyond what it takes to raise it and place a support. I can't tell how high you can jack the rear of a pontoon using that end bulkhead before something "gives " there is longitudinal support from the toon itself and from the decking but what the bend point is is...

why I still prefer gauges in my cars

I know of stepper motors. I have not pulled my '08's panel, and I'm sure it receives a "digital "signal . But , after start up, my gauge climbs slowly, and I mean slowly, until it gets to the 210 F mark....which is the center. Just like my '77 monte did. The needle settles down at a "fixed"...

why I still prefer gauges in my cars

not my '08. it's a real analog gauge. So is the thermostat, no electrical connection at the housing either. 10 minute job not counting refilling the system.

why I still prefer gauges in my cars

it's a get home hack that might work. depends on the situation.

why I still prefer gauges in my cars

yep, same with cars 'cept that a good, fairly inexpensive, bi-directional scanner can be bought for them. not for my Merc.

why I still prefer gauges in my cars

it is not.....I have owned the truck since new....have hauled my boat with it since owning the boat from 2016/17 on....and have towed it to this lake from 2018 on....and back and forth from the marina in essex Md., since 2023. The gauge gets to 210 and stays there.....always.......until now...
