How hard is it to replace a broken water tube?

Thank you Sea Rider and 99Yam. This thread can close and I hope it helps someone in the future.

How hard is it to replace a broken water tube?

So, tested the motor and heard a very loud "open headers exhaust" sound. I feared I screwed up on the gasket but realized it was just the exhaust coming out the hole by the shift linkage where I removed a rubber access plug. Plugged the hole and all is well. Will run the motor some more to heat...

How hard is it to replace a broken water tube?

The manual I have simply says to use a new gasket. If your manual says different I'd be interested to hear what to do.

How hard is it to replace a broken water tube?

I think I'll just put the gasket in as is, no schmutz, clean and grease the bolts without anti seize but as to following the manual, well, it would have had me do a ridiculous amount of unnecessary work, completely removing the power head just to change this gasket. Sometimes I just don't go "by...

How hard is it to replace a broken water tube?

Yes SeaRider, I didn't mention 2 of the bolts were hard to get out. I would only give them about a 1/32 of a turn at a time between slowly removing the other bolts until they all came out without snapping and you can see the corrosion on them in the pic. I will surely clean and grease them with...

How hard is it to replace a broken water tube?

so, next using a razor blade and super fine sandpaper I cleaned the areas for the new gasket, part #6EE-45113-00-00. I have placed the new water tube and rubber bushing approximately where it will be installed but did not yet slide the bushing into the slot as I am waiting on a new gasket. So...

How hard is it to replace a broken water tube?

OK, so through a mix of research and ciphering I got this figured out and in an effort to close this thread and help some other poor soul I'll document my adventures... I am going to post this in several posts rather than one big one to make sure the dog does not eat my homework before I hit...

    Electric Boats

Worked on my motor today, got rid of the vice grips holding things together. Runs smoother and quieter. Here's a test, first at 6 volts, then 12 volts then 18 volts. The motor is rated to 24 volts.

How hard is it to replace a broken water tube?

This is the best part diagram I saw and it sure looks like I need to pull the powerhead. OK, looks like all I need to do is remove 6 bolts, the fuel line and the throttle cable and then hope I don't snap any bolts.

    Tippy aluminum houseboat

I suppose you can add pontoons on each side and they will help with the roll but I don't see how to do it feasibly. That looks like an old Sea Camper, cool. I would remove all the topside railings and replace with stanchions and SS cable, remove that big platform roof on the back and find a way...

    Electric Boats

Interesting observations everyone but I'd like to interject something before this thread goes the opposite way I intended. I did not mean to compare go-carts and sports cars, rather I wanted to address what many of you have pointed out, that recharging an electric boat is problematic and that...

How hard is it to replace a broken water tube?

Yamaha F6SMHA, when replacing the impeller I found the water tube was badly corroded and appears to be broken at the top and 3 inches from the pump. Do you have to pull the power head to replace that tube?

    Electric Boats

One thing to add, using an old 9.9 I will leave in the old water pump. Studying the store-bought motors I saw many of them use heat sinks and water cooling to keep the motor cool so when I switch out my DC lawnmower motor for a large motor I will add a cooling fan and heat sinks with copper...

Lectro88, KD4UPL thanks for the input. Since we are talking about 4 basic parts, I'll break it down this way, Solar - dependable, I have a whole house worth of panels I got free off Craigslist and at over 10 years old still put out over 90% of their rated power. I opt to wire each panel...

I'm going to need a friend to machine a coupling. The driveshaft is 1/2" but the motor shaft is a hair bigger. .

I used solar on my houseboat, it was easy. Not like trying to meet code and demand for a house. Also, unlike an outboard, parts are far more interchangeable.
