I have to hit my browser's 'back' button twice on this site now to get it to work....
anyone else like this?

    You've got to be kidding!

As if boating isn't expensive enough. I found out today that the marina where I keep my boat is increasing the annual moorage from $6.89 to $8.95 (per foot per month if paid annually) plus tax... and they're measuring the slip, not the boat. That's a 30% increase in one year (almost 40% because...

    Leaky window

I have a window that has a slow drip when it's raining 'cats and dogs' (which it has for 23 days straight!). I heard there's a product you drip into the area of the leak and it solidifies like caulking or something. I don't mind taking the window out but it's just a rubber seal in an aluminum...

    Good news?

Our property assessments just came in yesterday. I bought my place in late '95 for $184000 and this years assessment says $399000. They also said that they're all undervalued by 15% to stop everyone from disputing the 'taxable' amount. I could never buy a place here now.
Good news right...

    Mortgage rates

What are y'all paying for mortgage rates? I went through a broker and the best was/is 4.75% (now, up from 3.75% a year ago) floating/2 year amortization.
The Bank of Canada has been raising the rates slightly in recent months and the trend is expected to continue. I may lock in next time...

    Lightning

We rarely get electrical storms here... last night on the way home from picking up my kid we got one. It was dark and we were driving along a quiet country road and there was a flash outside my drivers door. I thought to myself, "Hey, that was kinda' close." I looked forward again and... KAPOW...

    Hydraulic steering fluid

Mine needs a top-up. I don't know what type of fluid is in it but I was told it takes a 10 wt. Will any 10 wt. hydraulic fluid work?
It's been low since I got it and I can't find any leaks.
Thanks

    Christmas lights

    I hate when that happens!
I seem to have lost all my clips that hang the lights off the gutter... I didn't really like them anyway. Since I have to buy new ones, what's the best way (type of clip or a permanent)to hang lights do you think?

    Surprise! A $4500 bill!

Last payday I logged on to my on-line banking to pay a couple bills. I just about pooped! There was a charge for $4500 to the Sony store for something (don't know what) that wasn't mine. I called the credit card company right away and they said there has been a rash of this just recently. Also...

    uh oh...

I look after the water meter reading and billing at work. It appears I've been recording a meter incorrectly since April (a straight number instead of a factor of 10). This is an $80 000. (gulp) error that'll mean a debit to one municipality and a bill to the neighboring one. I should've caught...

    Monthly budget

With my monthly expenses increasing faster than my income (furnace oil... ouch!). Next time my mortgage comes up for renewal I'm going to have to re-adjust my payments/ammortization. How do you folks figure out what to set your payments at? A percentage or just 'wing it'?
My mortgage...

Rust stains... and now the results

I have a few stansions with some rust stains around them on the gelcoat. Everything on deck is stainless so I'm not sure where they originated but I want to clean 'em up. What's the best rust stain remover that you've tried.

    Helicopters can't fly

Why, when they're flying forward at 150+ mph, don't they flip over? The rotor swinging forward creates all that lift then while it's going back doesn't.

    Woman problems

As some of you know I have a 2 year old son that lives with me. Shortly after his mother 'moved on' I started dating this woman. She was just a friend then things developed in to something more serious. Over the past 3 or 4 months there's been a change... she wants to party all the time and...
