    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

...maybe the initial owner broke the motor in extremely well...😉

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

where's the sticky for the compression specs supposedly in here ? Here's a guy from 2010 getting similar results and yet being told 150 psi. should be maximum.......confusing. Now I'm curious myself, I want to know. To the OP: just how well is that motor running? Does the starter struggle to...

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

these are my #'s with different props. 3 give the same #'s, 1 is my load prop. There isn't a magical prop, at least not for me. Not for trying. And a pontoon isn't a planing hull, but props aren't magical. The #'s are just not that far apart.

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

A Merc. 3 blade 16x13 pushed my pontoon to it's best performane #'s lightly loaded. 25+ mph but maxed rpms were 5800. 6000 is ideal. But it was a dog when loaded down. A Merc 3 blade 16x12 gave only 22+ mph @6000...I could go over the 6000 however. But when loaded down (pulling teens on tubes)...

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

"So I'm confused when you say a 19P 4 blade is equal to a 21P 3 blade, I would have thought it was the opposite, that a 21P 4 blade would be equal to a 19P 3 blade." when you add a blade, that is the same as increasing the "bite" (pitch). So to equal out, you would add pitch (or diameter) if...

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

It's just what I've always been told. But all miscellaneous issue should be fixed before spending money on props. And agreed, if that prop hub/gearcase isn't a match, it won't work. and see pic.. mine is black. maybe you don't need one.

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

Every compression test I've ever done is with all plugs out and WOT while cranking. That's what I learned 50+ years ago when I started messing with engines. There was no internet so this knowledge came from quality, reliable service manuals and other publications. didn't see that mentioned...

    Gph at various rpm...thoughts?

    ok...here. This is a 2021 Merc 115 hp CT pushing a twin tube (25") pontoon. 5800 - 10.6 gph.......2.35 mpg 5000 - 7.0. ". ......3.1. " 4000 - 4.1. ". .......4.3. " 3000 - 2.15. ". ......5.5. " 2000 - 1.2. " ......5.4. " These #'s ,+/- 0.2, are from 3 of my props...

Starting your car in this cold weather.

can't believe this wasn't mentioned. Remember? You had to "set the choke" first by pressing the gas pedal to the floor. If really cold, maybe a pedal pump or two for the accelerator pump to spray some gas into the carb throat. After starting, it ran at high idle and after a short time, you...

2024 suntracker party barge with the sun tracker flare

some pictures would help. There are no boat specific wiring diagrams. There are marine wiring keys/colors such as these. I would guess on a 2024 that these switches were unused and put there for accessory add ons. Purple wires are positive 12v when the ignition is turned on. That's how most...

    83' 115hp Mercury, prop slip

I use the smartcraft system built into my 2021 merc motor. I installed the smartcraft tach to retrieve the data. I also installed a stand alone GPS speedometer. So the tach utilizes and displays fuel used, and gallons per hour at any rpm. Pontoons are a displacement hull, not a planing hull, so...

    83' 115hp Mercury, prop slip

if jimmbo is correct, you're 100 rpm above your max now..( which I wouldn't worry over) but I wouldn't want to go over that. On paper, increasing by a blade, or a 1" increase in diameter or pitch would drop the rpm by around 200 rpm. These are not my facts, but what I've read on here and other...

look at Lowe pontoons also. They're kinda under the radar. I'm still running my '06.

    Pitch perfect

yep...got it...some props won't work on some motors because the prop hub diameter does not match up to the gear case diameter.....regardless of prop diameter, gearing, or pitch. A small matter but semi costly if not recognized. Comment was snarky....I felt. Just trying to help...

    Pitch perfect

hey...you don't want info, then don't ask. you responded with gear ratio and PROP diameter and pitch which was NOT what I was talking about. guess what, the only thing that matters is what rpm is @WOT. You pick prop blade #, prop diameter and pitch based on that....if you're smart. It doesn't...

    Pitch perfect

yep, I meant that the diameter of the prop hub, not the prop itself, has to be a match for the diameter of the gear case. If it isn't, then you'll get exhaust blow by which causes extreme ventilation....that's why there's an unused prop on my shelf. Lesson learned.

    Pitch perfect

Just a fyi. I learned , the expensive way, years ago that mercury CT motors have a bigger gear case than "regular" merc motors. That's why I have a TP 4-14x13 on my shelf. Do Suzuki's work like that? just double check.

    Grill on Pontoon

yep...there's different layouts, and I don't know yours. I have no rear deck space available. Mine works for me.

How much Prop should i try?

+1 on what are the current running #'s and engine specs @WOT. That's the baseline starting point, not what someone hopes, thinks, or guesses. There is a propping sticky on here.
