    Help with routine maitenance

Re: Help with routine maitenance Thats right. In his first post the OP asked specifically about just "topping off" so that's the answer I gave him. Here are the directions for a full drain and fill using, as Bruce correctly pointed out, the middle hole.

Using Car fuel hose in boat

Re: Using Car fuel hose in boat Only use coast guard approved fuel lines no matter where you use them or how long they are. They are specially designed and certified for a reason. For the few extra cents difference do you really want to risk this?:

Alpha 1 clunks going into gear, and general engine questions

Re: Alpha 1 clunks going into gear, and general engine questions As achris said only use marine parts. As you'll soon find out anything with the word "marine" on it will cost a lot more but don't start down the slippery slope of asking yourself "how much of a difference could there really be"...

Where is my fuel cell sending unit?

Re: Where is my fuel cell sending unit? It may not be that big of a problem for you. Can you see the sending unit from the back of the tank? Most are located at the very back of the tank since the the stern sits the lowest in the water. What kind of boat do you have? Is it a sterndrive with a...

How much corrosion is too much on used?

Re: How much corrosion is too much on used? Sandy, that does not appear to be corrosion you're looking at. The gloss of the paint has been chemically stripped off. Judging by the spray pattern it looks like the owner used brake cleaner or some type of harsh chemical cleaner to clean up the trim...

New boat owner: Critique my shopping list

Re: New boat owner: Critique my shopping list Congratulations on the buy! Just a couple of things I didn't see mentioned. If you are going to have any kids on the boat you'll need child sized PFD's and in addition to one or two manual fire extinguishers you might want to look into an automatic...

    bilge blowers

Re: bilge blowers ^^^+1 If for any reason your blower isn't working be sure to open the engine compartment fully (sniff down low to make sure no gas fumes are present) before starting. As someone pointed out, gas fumes and just one spark can ruin your whole day!

Looking to make my first boat purchase!

Re: Looking to make my first boat purchase! All things being equal the sea ray is a better built boat. Although made by the same parent Co. (Brunswick Marine) it is a heavier built boat, more solid, seaworthy etc. I would look at both though. The more boats you look at, actually touch, feel...

Looking to make my first boat purchase!

Re: Looking to make my first boat purchase! I second the being careful about the floor part it looks like it might be double decked up towards the front in the middle just in back of the wood grate. Double decking is when they take a good piece of wood and lay it over a soft piece to cover it...
