Re: Corrosion?? Re: Corrosion?? Well, I just tried. I'm sure it's probably my skills are lacking, but I couldn't get a decent photo. EDIT That actually turned out better than I thought it did. That's the worst spot.:( I did measure my aluminum thickness on the transom and it looks like it...

    Sea Nymph 17' Deep V.

Musky livewell Musky livewell I've been searching for a livewell for awhile now.....I know I need it to build the front deck around, so it had to happen soon. So I bought this one. A 51" Livewell. Perfect considering I'm excited to get back to Musky fishing. Great Lakes skipper was selling...

    18' Starcraft SS Restoration

Re: 18' Starcraft SS Restoration Glad your wife is doing better!:) BTW here is a picture of what I was talking about. Then back of the jump seat "doors" is actually the front of the original splash well. It would be all original and intact. Just lower, and with a deck built over it. After...

    Sea Nymph 17' Deep V.

Re: Stripping old carpet glue, and Scrubbing is in my future. Re: Stripping old carpet glue, and Scrubbing is in my future. Most newer boats have a deeper V, and the transom drops down further where the motor is. Then the splash well is much lower, and much smaller. I think I'm just going to...

    Sea Nymph 17' Deep V.

I've been on here for a short while reading a bunch. I was originally looking at a Starcraft Jet, that was local to me. I wanted to build a fishing first, family boat second boat. After posting a want ad for a Deep V hull, I drove the hour away and bought this. I believe it is a Sea Nymph. The...

    Just a question.

Why don't more of you remove the bow railing on the smaller boats.16-18ft boats. Like on the SS. It seems like there would be no convenience and only inconvenience especially when docking, launching at ramp, beaching etc.

Retrofitting VRO to an early Motor.

While everyone is removing VRO, I'd like to add a VRO setup to a much earlier engine. A 73 65 hp Johnson. Has anyone done this? In the meantime I'm going to search how exactly it works, and other sites for similar info. Thanks in advance.

Hydraulic cylinder use questions. TILLER ENGINES

Normal hydraulic systems are a closed system right? When you pump fluid in to turn one way, fluid from the cylinder is forced back to the helm through the other line..... Why couldn't the lines on the cylinder simply be looped, and used on a tiller for hydraulic steering. Like in this picture...

68 55hp question-ID and use of Electric shift.

I have a few questions about a 68 55 hp Johnson outboard. I've been searching for answers on this board but haven't found anything yet. First are all late 60's 55hp Johnson's electric shift? How do I identify it as electric shift or not? How does the electric shift work? Very simplified...

    Converted to tiller??

I'm looking at a Starcraft locally. The tag said jet 15, or jet 15.5....I don't remember if it said jetstar or just jet. Anyhow.... One of the things I'd like to do is convert it to tiller. For many reasons, but mostly because I lost my father this spring, just sold my current boat, and would...
