    Mystery Bolt!?

The end of that support arm is supposed to have a rubber piece shaped like Napoleon's hat on it. It is to stop the pump casing from rotating with the crank shaft. If your engine has been sprayed with corrosion protective it has probably gone gooey and disintegrated or spilled any gas on it...

2013 VP 380-C Fuel pump whine

Is your fuel cell similar to that show on the Caveman Videos? If so the float is there to allow any vapor (air or gas) to flow out to the inlet manifold to to ensure the fuel cell stays full of liquid gasoline (low liquid level allows float to fall and open the vapor valve). I'm not familiar...

2013 VP 380-C Fuel pump whine

You need to take the fuel cell off and dismantle it as shown on the Mancave videos. The fuel cell is double walled with the cooling water passing around the cell, the passages are very narrow and prone to corroding/ silting up. You might get lucky and find just the inlet or outlet plugged up...

    Volvo 4.3 Tinking Sound

How old is your boat? I had a similar sound on an old boat, that turned out to be rotten stringers/ engine mounts. The lag bolts were loose and the engine mount was slapping the glass fiber stringer covering. Hope that your issue is not that, but check the mount bolts just in case.

    Exhaust noise SX drive

I believe the SX-MLT drive is functionally similar to the SX-M drive that I have, and that drive exhausts through the prop. Although the kit the OP refers to indicates it is for diesel engines only.

    Still no power

I concur with Dubs, check that the advance weights in the distributor are not corroded and are free to move.

No ground in fuel pump relay socket Volvo Penta 4.3 GXI

OP posted picture of engine showing cover label "4.3.GXI" and clearly that is a MEFI ECU attached to the STB riser. The VP EFI diagnostics manual states it covers this model. The manual clearly indicates all I said in my post is true!

No ground in fuel pump relay socket Volvo Penta 4.3 GXI

You have throttle body fuel injection controlled by a MEFI engine control unit. The fuel pump relay is actuated by the MEFI providing a path to ground when it deems it is ok to do so. You need the VP EFI diagnostics manual (VPA 7742218 03-2003) to guide you to a solution to your problem. The...

    Trim ram maxium extension

I have a SX-M and I believe most of it is identical to the SX-C but can't be sure. See the attached pics for the angles at the stops of my outdrive.

    AQ125A Volvo Penta Idle Issues

As it idled fine before you removed the carb maybe you missed something putting it back. It sounds like you now have an air leak in the inlet manifold, you replaced the carb/manifold gasket didn't you? If yes, did you check it was identical to the one removed? Did you remove any screws or...

7.4 mph misfire when throttle up

If this has a flat crab distributor cap I'd change that first. Has the distributor been disturbed recently? If yes then the phasing of the rotor to plug lead pins in the cap may be off and timing the distributor may be all that's needed (you say it runs ok at idle and low rpm but not at higher...

    Wiring harness for 5.7GiF

Volvo Penta Marine Parts Europe indicates that the 5.7GI-F has the Volvo ECU not the MEFI-4B. Easy to check, the MEFI-4B has two rows of pins in both connectors whereas the Volvo ECU has three rows of pins in the connectors. If you do have a MEFI-4B the codes can be read using the led method I...

Now the head is off have you tried to fill the combustion chambers with a solvent to see if the valves hold liquid ?

Long cranking and turnover to start after warm. Questions about vapor lock and leaky Injectors

It might be worth checking the fuel rail pressure decay time after shutdown see how long it takes for it to drop from 50 psi to 45 psi. It should hold pressure for quite awhile. Check it when the engine is cold and again after a 20 minute run when it is hot. Anything that allows pressure to...

    2006 Volvo 5.7 osi-d crank no start

I don't think there would be any benefit to adding anything, but that just my feeling, others here might have a different opinion. Has anyone had good results from engine flush additives?

    2006 Volvo 5.7 osi-d crank no start

No, on a marine IO exhaust, steam is not an indication of head gasket failure. You changed the manifolds and risers two years ago, did you use OEM gaskets? I ask as a weeping riser gasket can cause moisture in the exhaust manifold and lead to valve stem rusting during lay up periods. This can...

    2006 Volvo 5.7 osi-d crank no start

You need to do a leak down test to see where the 3 & 5 cylinders are blowing by. Hopefully it is just sticking exhaust valve stems. You might have to remove the port exhaust manifold to inspect them. If it's the piston rings then as you said game over; overhaul or new engine time.

    2006 Volvo 5.7 osi-d crank no start

I think we need more information: 1. How many engine hours on it? 2. Salt or fresh water use or mix? 3. Last time exhaust manifold and risers were changed? 4. Raw water or antifreeze coolant heat exchanger engine cooling? A leak down test could give some insight as to where the compression...
