    Water in oil

Before installing old heads on a new block it's important to check the head for flatness. For how-to click here. Of course check real good for any cracks. For other than race engines we have always used Fel-Pro PermaTorque head gaskets. NO sealant (RTV) added. Check intake manifold for flatness...

    Launching/retrieving with FWD

I really don't see why you asked that question here. The load is not over the vehicle limit. You have access to another vehicle with a tow strap. Since no body here knows anything about your boat ramp, answering is a crap shoot. Have the other vehicle and tow strap ready and just try...

    Can anyone help electrical question

Sorry I wasn't trying to insult you. I was trying to just use an example to easily explain what @dingbat did above in a much better manner. Sorry again! I'd like to add to dingbats explanation if no one minds? An electric motor needs the proper voltage to operate, in your case 24v. Raising...

    1979 Mercury 80 worth it?

Thank you everyone for the quick replies. I wasn't sure if parts from the 80 HP would fit my 50 HP. If I could get both motors running this summer without investing a ton of money, I wouldn't mind using the 80 w/tilt. I could either save my 50 for a backup or sell it. Used running outboards...

Sorry, my fingers didn't listen to my brain. Yes it's a 1979 not a 1997.

    1979 Mercury 80 worth it?

I haven't tried getting my '78 Mercury running yet. My boat's sticker says MAX HP 90. I spotted a 1997 Mercury 80 supposedly with power trim for (asking) $300.00 AD: Click Here Seller's Description I don't know much about this outboard it was on a boat that was beyond repair. This 80 horse...

    Next to No Maintenance

I've never seen oil that looks like condensed milk caused by just condensation. I'm thinking if it took 12 years of condensation to get to that point there would be serious internal engine damage, if not now real soon.

Found a 2000 16' Fisher Avenger WT in really top condition

Take the weight of the boat, add the trailer, motor and all added accessories to find out if it's close to your 1,500 lb safe towing limit.

Boat trailer rusting at welds galvanized

Metal rusts from moisture and air. Killing or removing the rust and then applying a few coats of paint would work. But your neighbor is not pulling your leg. A layer of oil prevents water and air from coming into contact with the metal. Here in NH it is popular for folks to do an oil based...

    Low Trailer- Steep Driveway Problem

If your town was responsible for the curbs I would contact them. Installing curbs in front of driveways usually isn't allowed.

Help with a 2001 Wellcraft Martinique 2600 fuse panel

First off, some missing info... Boat year, make and model. Probably the best thing to do is look for any thing electrical that does not work. Then research how many AMP's it requires. Good luck!

    Speakers

As mentioned above. I don't understand why you would want to change it. Once you do the stereo fader control will be backwards, i.e. front balance will be rear speakers & rear balance will be front speakers.

Trailer questions for vintage Glastron Tri-hull

The boat, trailer, motor in my signature are all dated the same so I assume it came from a dealer as a package. The trailer has rollers for the keel and bunks along the sides in the back. Sorry these are the only pics I have right now.

Kind of a weird question on a/c for boat

Speaking about the electricity... I live in a house built in the 1800's and the electricity was updated but too many things on each circuit, anyway... I have a 12,000 BTU A/C unit 1st floor living room. A 12,000 BTU A/C 2nd floor bedroom. Each unit is plugged into and outlet on a run that has...

    Windows 11 yes/no?

Microsoft has always released buggy newer versions. I was never quick to upgrade until they fixed the majority of problems. My upgrade path: DOS 3.3 Windows 95B Windows 98SE Windows 10 I'm keeping my 98 PC running because of all the expensive programs I own out right for it. I'm not paying...

    Swell, waves, and period

I grew up on Long Island Sound, from East Haven to Stratford CT with most time off Milford shore. As I got older a buddy and I would spend every low tide on Mondays clamming. High tides on the weekends on the water fishing or checking his lobster pots in a 16' outboard. We were able to see the...

Gelcoat cracks around mercruiser transom plate opinions and repair questions.

Looks like possibly the gel coat cracked and someone painted over it without sanding it smooth and flush. My question would be "why" did the gel coat crack like that?
