2002 5,7 Mercruiser exhaust manifold keeps cracking - 5 times this summer

Interesting. What's going on with this valve seat (circled). Looks like it isn't installed correctly or the head has been ground too deep for it.. Gotta zoom in pretty good to see it.

lifter issue and rock arm registration

Pull the spark plugs out and spin it over with starter (or pull distributor and use an oil priming adapter). Oil pressure should build pretty quickly and pump up the lifters. If pressure doesn't build up, there are some other problems there. Aint rocket science.

    Going straight at low speed?

Meant to say "B3 Dual Prop", but somehow can't edit.

    Going straight at low speed?

Duo pro will fix, but so will the correct trim tabs deployed all the way down. My old Chaparral 2550 SX (7.4L w/ B1 drive) wandered like a drunk. Added the tabs (12 x 16 sport tabs), then straight as an arrow at head speed when deployed.

    Weird wiring issue

Yup, you have a bad ground somewhere

    Oil Pressure Sensor Or Switch?

If you have the engine serial #, go here: https://www.mercruiserparts.com/mercury-marine-parts-lookup-drawings Unit with the purple and purple/yellow is the switch that cuts off the fuel pump if the oil pressure drops. Basically a safety switch. Item 5 The oil pressure has lt blue wire...

    Exhaust Manifold Question

Those look like welded together home made risers. I'd pass for sure. Pretty clever, but no thanx.

    Trim troubles

does it not just work in the up or both up and down? If only not in the up position, like Scott said, does the trailer button work? Since it works by jumping at the pump, I would be checking the : 1. Trim limit switch on the drive unit (the wires rot off on those) 2. The trim control switch(s)...

Can a Gen1 lower work with a Gen 2 upper outdrive application??

Until your prop hits something / the bottom / a rock the skeg would have hit 1st. Pretty sure it isn't about steering.

    Trim troubles

If pump is running and solenoids do indeed energize, then I'd check the little white plastic check valves under the solenoids. One spec of crud in there stops them from working. Are the rams on the drive any good? They do seize up if corroded.

Alpha outdrive stud came off with nut. Never saw this before???

Since those nuts are nylocs, I would use the Locktite RED on those studs, so they don't back out again., unless you want them to by using some heat.

    Hybrid Cats

My wife worked for World Cat. I did some QA / QC stuff for them a couple of times. Really nice boats. But they are $$$$$$$$

    Winterize Engine That Won't Start

"No water came out when any plugs were removed"......... Sounds like the drain hole is plugged with rust / sediment from the inside. Probe the hole with a screwdriver or wire rod to break it free. If there is still nothing, I would be checking to see why the block has no coolant in it.

Carter P4389 Doesn't Work when Connected to Carburetor

That fuel pump should deliver 3 psi min and 8 psi max. The fuel gauge will tell you if the regulator / pressure switch in the pump is working correctly. Then it will all be on the carb and / or plumbing.

    bogging down after 5mins

Loosen your fuel fill cap and see if it still does it. If it seems to run OK, check the tank vent for clogging, like a mud dobber's nest in it, a plugged screen or something

    Fuel System Question

    or a vapor charcoal canister.

Carter P4389 Doesn't Work when Connected to Carburetor

Connect a hose to output from pump and see how fast it pumps into a container. You either have a blockage leading to or in the carb or the pump is kaput. You have a solid 12 volt source to the pump?

Have spark and fuel, can't get the rebuilt engine to start

Hmmm. Wonder if timing chain is timed correctly between the crank and cam. Something is not installed / timed / adjusted correctly. If everything is timed properly and valve lash (rocker arms) are correct, you should have fire.

    Gas gauge not working

Looks like that black / white is in the same solderless connector termination as the one that labeled B+, so I would believe that is correct, if the terminations weren't recently redone. Even if the breaker didn't "pop", check that you have B+ coming out the other side of it. Breakers being...
