Which wash down pump to buy opinions - brand name? GPM?

I hope I'm in the correct forum for this, but........I'm restoring a '63 Starcraft Jet into a fishing boat. I'm at the point where I need to order my washdown pump. I have my livewell pump, which is a Johnson 1000 GPH dual port so I only need 1 water pick up through the hull. I'm looking at...

    1963 Starcraft Jet restoration

Well........the money I was waiting on hit, so I sprung for 3 of these: Black wheels with Kenda Bias load range C. Got stainless lug nuts and stainless easy lube/bearing buddy center caps with them. Black wheels with chrome accents are all the rage now here at the GMC Buick Garage. Studied up...

1964 Starcraft Jet - First Boat Restoration Project

Thanks for the info! Where you at? I have one in pretty decent shape off my 1963 with new white bottom channel and hold down bolts. . I may not be putting it back on. It needs cleaned up and polished a bit, but it's solid with no cracks.

    1963 Starcraft Jet restoration

Hit the boat again Sunday. I ordered more epoxy that isn't due to arrive 'til Monday, as I'm not a huge fan of the old timer's formula I tried out. I'm sure it works great, but I just preferred the epoxy after using both. Wasn't really feeling it Sunday physically, but I got a TV for football...

    1963 Starcraft Jet restoration

I've been working on it. Slooooowwwwwly. Into the tedious detail work now. Also had to rest my back a bit again. If there's one thing I've figured out in this boat building gig, it's that you can't build to level or plumb - both are meaningless. But you can and better build square and...

    1963 Starcraft Jet restoration

Thanks WM. Whilst I wait for my stainless T-nuts, 3/4" rivets, and livewell plumbing fittings, I built what I'm gonna call my bulkheads to support my front casting deck and frame in my livewell. I was gonna buy 2X2s to frame it, but they were all twisted warped junk. I ended up buying premium...

    1963 Starcraft Jet restoration

Gotta few updates. It's amazing how much time the "little" jobs take. I got the Plano storage box all sealed and installed. Here's the front view. I did manage to fit room for 5 boxes now instead of 4. The bottom box juuuuuuuuust clears the floor. You'll see I set the Plano boxes inside the...

Yeah, he had a blast - so did I. Just when you started getting slightly frustrated pole watching - BOOM - SHARK! We went to the Apache Pier also and caught some smaller stuff. The Apache Pier is advertised as the longest Pier on the East Coast at 1206 feet. And I REALLY want to get that rear...

    1963 Starcraft Jet restoration

Spent boat money to take my 11 yr old to Myrtle Beach for a week.:D We did catch 6 of these: The boy was STOKED! He had never been to the ocean before, and it was a trip that he'll always remember. I still can't believe he held the shark by it's tail. I showed him how first, and then how to...

    1963 Starcraft Jet restoration

I did get out to the Jet this weekend. It's funny, It seems like I go out with a plan to get one thing done, then realize I better do something else before I do what was planned. Yesterday, I wanted to get the rear deck installed, then realized once I got there, that I better get all my plumbing...

    1963 Starcraft Jet restoration

Thanks for the personal experience info TDF. Yeah, I'm more than curious how the 25 HP Suzuki will push her. I'm about 225 lbs, and my 11 yr old boy's about 120 lbs and growing fast - he's gonna be a big boy. Honestly I was looking for a deal on a 35 - 50 HP - The Jet is rated up to 50 HP as I'm...

I found this Engine Wire Color Code Chart online. Looks like a reliable source also. It appears my yellow wire is for tach, grey/taupe/beige is 12V switch power, and black is ground. Maybe someone else will find this chart helpful.

    1963 Starcraft Jet restoration

I'd like to introduce my restoration buddy. He comes by, follows me around, and keeps me company. Oh....and he poops enough for both of us.... I'd never seen a black swan before, thought it was just a movie. Anyway, I got my rear casting deck covered with Nautolex. Thought I'd show you my...

    1963 Starcraft Jet restoration

Thanks man. Been a little lackadaisical with the posting. Adding those extra 2 vertical supports to each "joist" (what's the nautical term for those?) REALLY made a huge difference. Another example of doing something you dreaded doing, but was WAY worth it in the end, and you end up sooooooo...

    1963 Starcraft Jet restoration

So where'd I leave off? Been putting some hours in since last post. Anyway, in the spirit of not taking any shortcuts, I peeled back that aluminum strip that ran the length of the bottom at the center of the ribs. Sure enough, there were rivets under there that didn't get sealed. I cleaned the...

    1963 Starcraft Jet restoration

I tell you what, I've been shopping used motors forever it seems. That is the best deal I've come across, and the extra props are a huge plus. Don't have to buy a spare now. And.....I answered my own question. I just picked these up in stainless steel plus a dual port live well pump. I'm gonna...
