Hey gang,

The PO had big holes drilled holes in the cast aluminum bow cap to mount his trolling motor. I curious what the correct term for this piece is called. I'm trying to search e-Pay with no luck... Does it need to be specific for my hull or anything that fits?

@evil-bay $60 OBO isn't bad, IMHO, even if it'd drive ya crazy to have a Crestliner cap on an SN......

But, it have to fit your boat's Vee at the bow....... Or be fine tuned to fit right.

Nothing much until I can get the sea slag-o nymph into my garage... 2-3 weeks max... I did clean up the rude's outside and ran it for fun... I'm not sure I'm even going to re-paint it? Prolly well though....

I'm a sucker for tin, nice little SN you got there!

My advice on fixing your tinny's keel, shoot some expanding foam in the cavity for backing of the JB, quick metal or marine tex. Shave the foam down, layer on the epoxy stuff and finish by sanding smooth.

Hey Watermann!

I'm still thinking of patching the keel with aluminum. I'm leaning to bare bottom on this boat, and painted sides... The boat will be on a lake chain with the river connecting the lakes consisting mostly of rocky bottom and shoreline... I feel the aluminum patch will be more durable... What do you think?

I'd use an aluminum patch, rivers w/ rocks are often rocky shores too...........

Motor looks (and sounds) good. I know you are a bit OCD (not a shot; actually a compliment with regards to your work), but I don't know if I would paint that motor. The decals and paint look to be in really good shape... (unless of course, you just need/want a winter garage project to fart around on to pass the cold wisconsin winter).

Either way it will be on the bottom of your boat and nobody will see the repair unless of course you run them over. :D

You could do both actually, the patch will be over the wear hole rather than filling it, a good job of over kill never hurts. Also keep in mind that JB weld once cured is way tougher than aluminum could ever be.

What about just buying a keel guard? seems like it would hide (the small issue) and protect again future damage. Just my 2 cents, nice looking 14' alum (I have been eyeing one of these too).

Oh good old Jb weld. I do love that stuff. A good combo of that stuff with a patch would stop a 357 magnum round! I have to agree that it's a good idea. But also keep in mind it would make it quite difficult to use a blind rivet with that combination. That doesn't mean to say that there isn't a hard fastener of some type that work will though.
It sounds to me like the river pond combo that you get to run through is a blast man. Pretty cool in my opinion!

Hey Troop!

Thanks brutha! Hope you had a great day as well!

I hope to get the Nymph into the garage tomorrow, or this weekend at the latest!

Key West is now sleeping for the winter...

Re: 14' Sea Nymph Oh Yeah!

Hey gang,

Took me longer than I thought getting the garage organized enough to fit the Nymph and my Yukon. It's tight but when I need extra space to work on either, I'll move the other outside... It's been years since I could actually park my vehicle inside my garage during the winter... I constantly fantasize about a bigger garage, pole-barns, and space for more stuff!

I'm going to spend some time looking over the boat and developing the master plan... After I brought it home, it basically went directly to the dark and cold of my back yard... My game plan for at least the next ten minutes is as follows: Repair any issues with bottom of hull, replace missing rivets, fill random holes properly, straighten dent in starboard bow gunnel section, rebuild the trailer, gulvit inside of hull, check hull for leaks, paint outside of hull and the bottom. Then flip painted hull onto the rebuilt trailer and start the interior build....

Barely fits!

Odd push/dent in bow gunnel. Maybe PO hit the dock? I'm open to repair ideas? Rubber mallet?

Strange anomaly of what appears to be two part epoxy that was never quite mixed?

01DEC2013%2520016.jpg

Missing rivets in keel, deep scratches and small dents I'll fill with epoxy/JB...

which one of these things is not like the other???

ya know just random holes!
