From where youre at now a 1/4" at a time would be good. I think you'll be amazed when you go the last 1/4" too far at how little a change will make a difference.

Re: 175 faststrike prop?

okay heres the scoop been messing around with these thing all week, first put new plugs back in it,ended uo raising motor half inch you was right its amazing how little makes a differece,so now with just me in the boat hole shot alot better ,not awsome but better, got my rpms up 5600-5700 at 65mph had to back off couldnt drive it out of the chimewalking, but i'll deal with that with little more driving, but rides better may just be my imagination, put a passenger in roughly another 220lbs and forgot my livewells were open, hole shot just like it was at wot rpms 5400 -5500 at 55 mph max.so should leave like it is or do some tinkering?ran a tank of gas with trips :( but if ya going to play you got to pay.

Re: 175 faststrike prop?

I'd keep going up. Slowly. The chinewalking should get less as you go up. Well, lets put it this way -- when the motor is too low it wont walk. As you go up it will start. It may get a little worse but then get better. Right now youre at the point that the motor doesnt know if it wants to ride on the bottom of the "bullet" or the top. Once you get high enough that it rides on the bottom then it should go away. A different prop may help too. Just keep testing height with what you have for now.

Watch the water pressure!!

thanks D ive been keeping close eye on the water pressure,i'll tinker some more with her,im a little confused with the chimewalking,so the more you raise the motor the less the walking?nothing to do with speed but the setup???

Its all in the set up and how it reacts with the hull configuration. Try going up some. If the handling gets too bad before it gets better you may have to comprimise and come down. Especially if you have hydraulic steering.

i dont have hyraulic steering, just filled her all the way up on gas so will do some tinkering
:) :) i dont want to mess with props until the set uo is right.will it bother the motor with theses changes?

Re: 175 faststrike prop?

Nope. When that motor gets uncomfortable, it'll tell you. It'll hit the rev limiter or go into SLOW. Just pay attention to what it wants. Youll be fine. Youre right to stay with the same prop right now, just make one change at a time.

Its a long process but doesnt it feel good?

Re: 175 faststrike prop?

sure does i just want the best set up and performance thats what its all about right and it should be more efficent if its all right,i always say one thing at a time.what makes the fackplate so hard to raise and lower?is it all right to put some lube on it,i have to put the boat on the trailer and drop the tongu all the way down to the ground is because of to much weight on the transome, probaly a dumb question?more trips to the lake :D :D

Re: 175 faststrike prop?

It almost sounds like its going into SLOW. That would indicate a water issue. It could be aerated water. I'd drop it down a tad and see if it clears up.

Re: 175 faststrike prop?

Speed Limit Overheat Warning. It limits the motor to about 2200 or so. The motor can jump around and act just like you describe. To reset it you just shut it off and restart it.

Yes, you can go down an 1/8" at a time.

Ron G.;

You are getting a lot of attention and good advice from DHadley, and you can't do better. Once you seem to be at the peak performance, we can talk.

What is interesting to me is that the addition of one person make such a dramatic difference. Your dropping 10 MPH. Soounds like the boat is settling down and drawing too much water. Like it is coming off the pad. I know that the hydrofoil is out of the water when you are up, and that it may help a little during the "hole Shot", but I would dump it, at least for a trial run. If nothing else it is an easy adjustment.
