Lookin Good. Have you decided on what paint you're gunna use?

Not sure yet, but I'm fond of catalyst paint due to it's durability. Probably PPG , unless you know a reason to stay away from this type of paint for marine applications. I've painted a few vehicles over the years and several trailers so it's a process I'm used to.

PPG is really good durable paint. For a Trailered Aluminum Boat it's a really good choice. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Thanks, I couldn't think of a reason not to us a catalyst paint, but I'm new to the boat resto. world. I hope to get the little dude in the water next season.

Okay She's back on the trailer, Finally!! The bottom is all painted and slick slick slick, very happy with the results. I took a little time and freshened up the trailer before loading. The trailer was already in decent shape with new tires and wheels, so I won't get into much detail. Basically I just put a little paint on it here and there. It's the correct age for the boat and as far as I know, it's original to the boat. I may try to find some of those teardrop finders for it down the line. Anyway, back to the boat and pictures of how she looks right now.

Now that it's right side up, it's time to work on reversing the chop job on the enclosed bow. If you remember, someone at some point cut the enclosure and shortened it, They actually did a decent job, but I want it back where it belongs. The dash was shortened and moved forward, so at least I still have it. I removed all the brass screws holding it in place and to my surprise, what I had been thinking was brackets and each end of the dash, are actually the pieces they cut off the ends to shorten it and flipped around and screwed in place. This was a nice surprise, because now all I have to do is reattach them to the ends and it will be the correct length again.

Okay, more work on the chopped dash (slow @ the shop the last couple days) I scabbed some heavy aluminum to the rear of the dash and riveted the two original pieces back on the ends. Even though you won't much be able to see the repair once the bow cover is reinstalled I still wanted to fill in the crack left from them being sawed off. I found some filler that states it is for aluminum and since the repair is non-structural I figured I'd give it a shot.

Initial test fit is perfect, now to slick it out before the permanent install.

Nice surgery there. What will you use for filling the big gap in the cap now?

I'm going to cut a piece of aluminum and stitch it back in with an under strip and rivets. I also plan to put the curve back in at the dash ends like it came from the factory (wish me luck on that) :joyous:

Coming along nice with the refit, temporarily mounted a roughed in piece of aluminum and marked everything from below to make my exact cuts. Should have pics soon of this progress.

Thanks, what do you think about the Bahama Blue on the dash? I'm trying to decide on my top color for the boat and am considering this color. It has extra metallic in the clear coat, but you can't see it in the picture. Also, I'm looking for some sort of aluminum trim to go on the bow cap above the dash, any ideas on that would be awesome.

Yep! Looks great!

Putting a windshield back on it?

Did it originally have 1?

Yes, it did originally have a windshield and I for sure want one back on it. I also have the aluminum frame work for a folding canopy that I plan on getting new canvas for.
