+1. I've seen the "rope rubrails" on lots of boats and it looks and works great. Plus, it's a lot easier to find replacement rope than the exact right make and model of rubber for a given rail, and you can usually get it any color you want rather than typical black or white rubrails you see on most boats. Keep us posted.

Dave, Love what you are doing with that great old boat. You creative young guys make us old geezers looks very dull!

FYI, I noticed in your posted picture of the "Welcome" sign there is an ignition switch panel in the upper right corner. It reminds me of the panels used for the V-4's during the 1960's. My reason for mentioning it is the proper ignition switch for your 40HP Johnson MAY be different than the switch supplied with Big Red. The difference is the internal poles in the switch for magneto equipped motors versus a battery igniton system like a car that OMC began using back in those days. If the switch is not the proper one, it could cause damege to your magneto coils. Not trying to be an alarmist, just giving you a heads-up so the issue can be looked at closely!

Keep on keeping on! You are almost done, Bill

EDIT: I saw in post #247 that you found that switch panel in the boat and installed it after you acquired the 40hp motor. You should be okay as long as the ignition switch itself was included with the 40's wiring harness. Sorry if I created any stress for you.

No problem Bill.
I was going to tell you the ignition came with motor and the face plate I found in the bottom of the hull when I examined them.
Don?t go to bed! ;)Photos coming now!

My new ?kitchen?; Taken from my buddy Dev (Cowboyup94) suggestion. I modified it a little bit (boy scout patrol cook box). And before you say it Bill,:D I know not to cook using gas in small enclosed area. I put the stove there for photographic value only!

This is a work in progress. I was given the waterproof box for a gift. I am turning it into a DIY Combination Switch and circuit breaker housing. (Hopefully protect the switches from most of the elements).

Hard to see but at the top of the windshield frame (is my new docking/headlamps) Lighted with power (wahoo). At night they really work great. I was up at midnight last night playing with them
I took my boat for a spin (in my mind of course) last night it was cool! Of course the brew that I deservedly earned during that time helped of course.

I think I'm detecting a rise on the Fun-Meter! Isn't it wonderful when it changes from vision to reality by your own hands? Bill
