Yeah, that windshield actually looks real nice. It seems to go real well with the lines of the boat. I'd keep it! Maybe use some foam rubber under it?

Cheers!

Hey HSF,
I have been out of touch for a few day's, but I must say, Your work is still great. That dash really came out nice. Some really nice woodworking skills showing. The windshield looks good too. At 40kts know one will ever notice.
Heck , I don't, with it sitting still.
Great job.

Re: 1961 Starcraft - 'The whole' story

Thanks Bob {and all of you others as well}...I've been out of touch myself the past few days...life, lack of funds, lousy weather, blah blah blah...did get the steering wheel and its connection back together today, and some minor things like nav lights on bow, cleats, radio's installed etc...still debating on what to use for/on the deck...probably just paint it with epoxy paint until funds gather some strength again. Going to pick up the cherry picker this weekend hopefully have er mounted and secured by sunday or monday. Still have a ton of minor things to get after....first one is recouping from my Wings falling apart and the ref's holding the glue and not letting them even taste it LOL...always next year. :D

Well, I've been hibernating with this sorry @$# weather we've been having.
Got the dash put together, need to find a tach, it all still needs wiring, that'll happen after the power plant is back on.
I added an oak piece across the dash, as I wasn't happy with the screws that were showing...PL & clamp city lol

Finally attached the outer transom piece, ran a bead of 4200 around the edge and in the screw holes, should be good for a few years at least{4 coats of epoxy both sides...also ended up drilling out the drains in the splashwell to accept the 1 1/4 " ones I wrongfully ordered...drains real fast now..lol

Other than that, not much closer to launch....cut out both side panels tonight, and applied the first coat to the back sides of them...
Had some help from the 'crew' with the make-believe boating... quite a chore lifting these hogs up and in, kinda similar to the fish I pull in...lol

Hope your all doing great!

Your dash looks amazing as well as the rest of the boat. You've made me rethink my dash design...

I hope I do half as good a job on my dash. Looks even better with the "stuff" installed. Your boat will get compliments where ever she goes.

Wings can't win EVERY year Kenny. Lions can't win any year.:p

I think that dash is begging for this type of steering wheel:

Re: 1961 Starcraft - 'The whole' story

Thanks so much guy's for the compliments, even though I've been milking this dash for all I can get, the real compliments go out to you all who keep me inspired and in awe of the work you guy's put in.

I've thought about a similar wheel EZ, but wouldn't that get awfully hot in the midday sun? And the way my wallet has clamped shut currently, surely doesn't help in the cosmetic spending department...Ohhhhhh to be rich like some of you :D;)............wait a minute...I have a Starcraft, I am rich! :p

Re: 1961 Starcraft - 'The whole' story

I think that elaborate dash needs an oak spoked wheel.

I've looked for those as well, the ones with the handles that protrude on the outside of the wheel....can't find any smaller than 30", other than those like for clocks or toys

Edit: Hmmm. could make for an interesting winter project
