I did my first time last year on my boat. I was nervous also. Hell I was nervous mixing the resin thinking it would harden before I used it lol. You will be fine. It was difficult when I laid the first one down because I was not sure i would do it right and being nervous did not help. After i laid the first one down the second was better and when i finished i wanted to start over because I got the hang of it. I did as WOG suggested except I used rubber foam anti vibration pads .25" and thicken resin under my stringers instead of just foam. No reason just bought it for my gas tank and had extra. I laid my stringers as WOG said on my rubber pads i stacked 2 so .5" about every so many feet to make sure the board is not touching the hull or really i laid them where the board was close to the hull. Then i pushed the thicken resin under the board and smoothed out with a bondo putty tool didnt have a spoon, it was easy. If i was to do this again like i am now, I would add some mat on your stringers if you havent before you put them in the boat. Then add your 1708.

Thanks for the replies...do you all put stringers and bulkheads in and then glass or do you glass stringers then fit and glass the bulkheads?

Good question...
2 schools of thought;
I like doing any flat work I can. Meaning I'll glass anything I can on a table wet on wet.
set stringer, make filets, then do the lamination to hull and stringer with a 2-3" overlay, wet on wet but not required.

Utter school of thought;
Set stringer make filets
Return and run full height glass to stringer and 3" onto hull with another layer 2-3" wider.

Also all stringer to bulkhead requires same process to tie stringer to bulkheads,

Either way works. Lastly csm on top of stringer at some point. Prob. best after all have been squared up to level for deck.

I would test fit stringers dry, then take pictures. Make sure its what you want. If it fits correct, resin your wood good(crucial step). i would add some mat before putting it in (don't have too). I did not add mat before (I will from now on) but always soak the wood with resin first. KC told me last year and I quote, "IF ITS FLAT ADD SOME MAT". Newbie too Newbie I know what you are going through!

He's using 1708 so it's already prepped with mat on the back side. No need for additional mat w/poly.

Lower keep some scissors handy encase the fabric gets caught in your roller and start to create runs. lol
