It was still a bit tacky to the touch a couple of hours after I painted it last night but it was dry and hard as a rock this morning. Tonight after work we're going to put the new bunks on the trailer and flip the boat back onto it so I can get the inside sanded and painted this Saturday.

Rustoleum top side paint with leftover PPG hardner and acetone with a Harbor Freight spray gun. I sanded with 400 and then 600 before painting. 2 coats with a thick overlap.

We flipped it over back on the trailer today with my home made wooden bracket. The bow rope from the cherry picker marred the paint slitly on the bow, but I can touch that up when i primer and paint the inside of the boat tomorrow. The boat is so smooth on the new bunks that you can move it around with your hand in the trailer. It's almost unbelieveable.

Re: 1964 Starcraft Bahama Restore

Today we got the inner hull primerd and painted and the cap Half bolted on. I accidentally grabbed a quart of black topside paint and didn't realize it until too late. They were all out of white too, so I decided to paint the inner sides and her bow black and the floor white. I used the rustoleum anti-slip additive and a textured roller. First I sprayed down the pain and then I added the anti-slip additive and then painted over it again and then texture rolled it. It came out great. The cap went on a little tight in the back but fit great on the sides. In fact it was fairly easy to push the side of the hull under the cap. We're bolting the rub rail on through the cap and seal and it's going great except the front cap Seems to not sit perfectly on the front of the bow. Turns out the Styrofoam under the Is rubbing into the bow a bit. Tomorrow I'll climb under the bow And align it a little better in the bow before we drill through and bolt it on.

Its been a long day and im totally exhausted. We need to get the boat put together and take it out for a test ride before we leave on Friday. The clock is ticking.

Well. I got the boat put back together in time for my trip but then the lower unit on my old 1963 Merc 850 decided to not want to go in forward. I rebuilt it years ago after it wouldnt go into reverse. It has a leak again now and im going to replace it. I've read online that you can swap in any inline six or 4 cylinder 650 lower unit with a small modification so that's on my fall/winter project list. At least the motor started right up and ran like a top. I re-ringed it years ago and rebuilt the carbs so it's worth keeping. So now the boat is done, just needs the cap and trailer painted. Here's pics.
