Ok guys... finally getting back at this!!! Yeh!

Tanks.... going to go with 2 tanks. Instead of under the bench seat at the back, they are going to go under the 2 foot area between the back bench and the splashwell that is going to be covered in as sort of a sundeck if you will. Vents on the top... open under the bench seat should provide sufficient air flow.

Tomorrow am --- wash of the inside of the boat.

Let dry for two days or so...


Order gluvit

Etch

Paint.

Let dry

Gluvit

Let dry

Begin floor floatation etc etc...

Is this interior paint? Pretty sure the Gluvit goes on bare metal best. Then prime & paint over it.

Wohho , Jim's back to work on the boat. I don't know about the spring thing. We under a winter storm watch Prairie storm to intensify in Saskatchewan - The Weather Network I think it's going to be nasty for the next couple days.

Hey Glen... thanks for the nudge man! Yup been working on it... in fact I was just turning on the computer when your email came through my phone! Just been busy with life --- my daughter's cast is off, b-day parties, finished the basement office, business stuff... ya know life! But I have been lurking and posting here and there!!!

Moving Forward:

Ok... so took advantage of the warmish weather on the weekend and washed/scrubbed the boat to get the polish off the interior floor. Got it all scrubbed up and left it outside for a few hrs to dry reasonably well. I put her back in the garage, turned up the heat a bit and left her until this morning.

Gluvit Completus!

Got the boat gluvited... pretty straightforward here... I used the extra to seal up some of the tiny little pot marks of corrosion that had occurred over the years.

Nice a shiney!

Also the old motor that we bought for next to nothing all torn apart:

Stages:

Gluvit Dryus:
So next stage is to let it dry for a couple of days.

Inside Hullus:
I am going to etch/prime/Paint the floor near the back so that it is even more protected should any water get in and sit there.

Center Railus Fabricatus:
I need to fabricate a center rail for the floor as this boat had one ( I think) but it did not come with one when I bought it.

Floorus Buildus:
Then I can get the foam in and get working on the floor and transom.


So there you have it for today.... back at it... little by little. Getting into the stuff I really enjoy. Should be interesting to see how the interior plays out!

Hey Gents....

Hull is etched and primed (well almost):

Got at it some more this am... went fine... except those dang spray cans drip (or in the case of the etching primer ---spray blobs at times). No matter how much I shake the thing they always seem to leak/spray blobs at times! Anyone know how to prevent this?

I did manage to etch and 85.245% prime it... but ran out of primer. So I will finish up tonight and lay down the white coat tomorrow or Sunday depending what my social convener has lined up!

Little bit at a time lads...

Going to make a run this weekend to pick up some foam...

Morning Jim, good progress, there. Grab a pail of hot water prior to painting, set your spary can in the water, let it warm for a couple minutes then shake it. Put it back in the water warm then shake till the paint in the can is warmed up fairly warm. It makes a huge difference in how they spary.

Warming the spray can is a neat trick along with more shaking. Are you just fingering the can or are you using one of those clip on trigger thingies. I found some of my drips came from my pushing finger collecting paint and dropping on the work.The trigger thing helped and the finger stayed clean. Less paint on the finger anyway.

Warm the cans as previously stated.Let the cans sit in a warm place for a few hours and soak in the heat.The other thing is proping up one end of the boat to get more of a horizontal aim on the area being sprayed.I have set boat against the side of my house on their transom and sprayed them.Be careful not to get over spray on the house.

Thanks guys... yah I used the trigger piece... but even on a vertical test piece it was splurting out blobs of paint. Hmmm... will give the warming thing a try. Kinda like and old John Deere Liquifire snowmobile I used to have... had to take the pull start inside to warm it up before it would work as well as the plugs. Only snowmobile I ever owned that didn't run well when it was cold out! Kinda defeated the purpose!
