Re: 1964 Starcraft Jet - Rebuild

Thanks fellas! I promise I will post up some pics this eve as I will be wheeling it out of the hanger and into sunshine for a little while! It will be picked up in early August.... in the mean time, the Falcon is going to make it's way into the hanger for it's restore.

I promised the Admiral I would take a little time off before beginning the Falcon and give her a hand with a number of things with her business --- gotta do what ya gotta do. However, both the Admiral and the kids are completely stoked to get the Falcon looking like the Jet!!!

After spending some time last night looking the Jet over, there are going to be a few "upgrades" or "mods" to it. Big change is going to be bow and gunwale cedar strip. Second will be nice individual seats for the admiral and I. Third will be a carpeted inside to the "trunk" and a little different design look to it as well... Fourth will be a total polish of the hull, sides and transom --- so this boat will not actually be painted! Oh ya... it will get a wooden steering wheel for sure!

Should be interesting... this one is NOT being sold!

Over the summer, I plan to tidy up the hanger and make it a little easier still to move around. It was way better... but I want to make some adjustments based on this last year and in particular spring's build.

Overall, I really enjoyed working on the Jet. The changes that I will be making to the Falcon are as a result of what I don't like about the Jet. I really love the look of the back of the front seat... but I am 6' 4 and just would prefer not to be hemmed in... bit to cramped for me.
Interesting thing is that I have already got a name for the little Falcon --- "A Touch of Class". Fitting I hope! :)

Thanks again fella's for all your positive comments and support over the last 8 months! It's been a blast!

More pics tonight and when the motor is installed in 2 weeks!

Have a great day,

Jim

Excellent!!!! Now let's see those pics. I would like to say I had my project close to completion but am diligently working on it. Today I am having a couple beers looking over the boat and contemplating what I want to accomplish next.

Re: 1964 Starcraft Jet - Rebuild

Hmmmmm interesting evening... boat did not come out of the garage! While testing the 60 rude, it decided to dump the contents of it's gear case into the barrel it was running in. Because I had muffs on as well, by the time I noticed the gear case oil, it was pouring down the driveway. Needless to say it made quite a mess.... so... I took some pics here in the garage.

Sorry for the lack of outside pics... I will try to get some tomorrow when all is dry and clear.

WW --- having a couple of cold ones doing the starcraft stare is IMO still forward progress!!! Glad to hear it is getting there!

Have a great evening fellas!

Stand down GA. The mob has NOT been disrespected in any way. Jas on the other hand has been mocked in French, by a Canadian. Aww come on boys, like he didn't have it coming. A little harsh perhaps but it is Jas. Put the dogs back JB, nothing to see here.

Jim she looks great. I look forward to many pictures in the natural sunlight, a video on the lake, and some action shots perhaps. SOTY 2013 right here.
