Well, this sucks, winter finally set in here, snowed yesterday, and got cold. Since I have to do all my glassing outside because my garage is part of my house I can't do it in there otherwise it stinks up the house, not sure how much I'll get done this winter.

How cold can you fiberglass in?

Spent a couple hours today and sanded/grind, out the stringers, now they are ready for glass.

Parris,

I recommend not glassing when temps fall below 15-16 Celcius. You could mess with the mix but I would NOT recommend it. You might consider building a PVC Shelter and then trying to heat it in some way. Not sure if your budget or circumstances will allow that. Harbor Freight has one.

Ok, thanks. what if I did the glassing then put a tarp over the hull and stuck a heater in there?

The problem is that the surface temp of the stringers needs to be at least 15-16 C. to get proper adhesion. You need the ambient temp all around the boat to be at that degree before applying the resin and the glass.

Well, no work on the boat today! This is what it looks like outside. Hard to see in the pic, but its snowing out pretty good now. Now where I live, we usually see 0 snowfall every year.

Our Canadian Thanksgiving was a little while ago now, but thanks!

Work on the boat has been held up due to cold, I'm trying to get it in a friends shop, so I can glass the stringers in, then I can bring it back home and get the floor cut out and cap back on.

Sorry haven't been around much here guys. No real updates, been too cold to fiberglass, was 10?c today, to I filled a few spots on the stringers to get ready for fiberglassing. I should be getting a spot in my father in laws heated shop for a bit so I can get some more work done, so I don't have to wait till spring.

Ok, finally getting back to working on my boat, got the boat in my Father in-laws shop where its warm. Just did a little skim of PB over the top of the stringers to make them a little more flat to glass over. I went and picked up some 1708 biax to do the stringers, now will 1 layer of 1708 be enough? Before it looks like only 1 layer of woven for the stringers, so I guessing 1 layer of 1708 will be fine.

Well Look who's Back!!! WELCOME!!!!! 1 will probably be ok, but 2 would make her bulletproof. I'm about ready to paint the hull on mine. Got my upholstery/sewing figured out so when I get her flipped over, I'm gunna make the custom bench seats and sew the covers. Let me know if you need anything.

Ya I know I've been away from here for a while, but I've done nothing on my Boat over the winter, now its getting warmer, and can do more work. Got it in the inlaws shop to get the stringers glassed in, then I can bring it back home, and fit the deck, and put the cap back on, then glass in the deck, but lots of work to do before the deck gets glassed in.
