just picked her up today. Other then the fact it needs a fuel pump and the control cables replaced again.(the control was taken from a merc outboard and it is too short)
It runs real good. just need someone wth a squirt bottle of gas to keep it going:D
Will start on it this winter after this years summer. Going to use it for now:rolleyes:

Airight. looks solid. Does it have any leaks? You gonna complete restore, custom? Man u have the horns I want, mine came with a hyandai horn. Well it looks like a journey man. Oh yeah dont let them give you $h#t about your inboard. Outboard owners tend to be a little winey but they aight. Congratulations!

Re: 1968 starcraft hoilday 18 i/o 120

None that we know of. Looks like there is no corrosion at all on the hull. I am going to have to fine an original dash compartment and I really want to find the original nav lights on the bow. We are just going to tighten her up for the summer and see how she goes. The back decking is soft so we are going to de a temp patch job on the floor for the summer. But this fall I believe it will be time for the complete tear down. The wife wants to do a complete restore. We have been bouncing back and forth over the inside seating. Most pictures show 6 seats, but on the Manufactors tag on the boat it shows it as an eight seater.

Welcome third time!

Agree with Clark there, lots of guys have gone before you so you'll have plenty of ideas to work with.

Yup, nothin beats the clean lines of an IO. AZ, the OB guys are a little whiny just from the racket and fumes their drive line puts out, no biggie. They are tolerable otherwise (well most of the time).

;):D

Hey super cool she is runnable as is for the summer, that's awesome!:)

Cheers!

Welcome to the starmada!
I like the nav light, looks like an original and from the pic it looks like blue and red lenses. I have one like it and want to keep it because its different. Not sure if its legal to use it, just something else for me to check on.

been checking the serial number on my outdrive. All the sites i have looked at it says its 78-82 vintage. I guess someone had to replace it in a pinch. Yeah the light i do like, but the wife thinks its not original. going to find a picure of one to check it out.

the light is original but the colors can't be used anymore, All well. Been investigating the outdrive some more. Seems it was mated with the 470 mercursier, its a 1.84 gear ratio. Not sure what the original ratio was but it seems there was no running problems with the po. Still trying to find parts to rebuild my old shifter, if anyone knows a website please send me the info. Going to go on and convert to a electric fuel pump, found a decent priced pump and the install kit thru holley that has the oil safety switch

Re: 1968 starcraft hoilday 18 i/o 120

Well been mess around with the boat this evening when I got off work. Been looking online at fuel pumps and have been just amazed how much those little pumps are. I thought uh, just take it apart and see how bad it is. Took it apart, cleaned the little thing out. Guess what, started pumping fuel again. put it on the boat and fired it up. Well i was happy when it fired but then it died. I can manually work the butterflies and pump fuel inti the intake, but it wont feed itself from there. Thinking rebuild the carb and that will solve my problem i hope. Any other suggestions:facepalm:

There is no tag on it and only found a few numbers not sure if thats what i need. Also was looking at it and something looks missing from the linkage side, like a spring or another linkage or something. havent disassembled anything yet

Third Time welcome aboard, that's a nice rig there and a real bonus that you have already splashed it:)

I'm one of those OB guys so I cannot help you out with that contraption, but the Merc forum is a huge help as mentioned.

Check out some of the brochures for ideas, those Holidays were built for many years with minor changes.

Well been reseraching the carb sitting on my desk and have discovered that it is 1950 era's, coded as special, and of course the little metal tag is gone. Not sure if its a marine carb but looks like one. Best i can tell this is a rochester rp 2 jet. Going to napa in the morning and going to see if i can pull a rabbit out of the ol' hat:D dont even wanta think about buying another carb right now, dangggg, they are expensive:eek:

Re: 1968 starcraft hoilday 18 i/o 120

Okay i figure i give a update. Went saturday to napa, messed around there a while with the lady at the counter saying I think this Will work(rebuild kit). Took it apart yesterday and let it soak over night. Spen tmid morning cleaning and reassembling the thing. Took the top off 3 or 4 times because of forgetting about the choke plate and screws mouning in from underneath. Just put back on the boat and hit the key, turned a couple of times and with out giving it gas it started and ran this time:D. Idled good considering I guessed at the idle mixture screws on each barrel. couln't let it run for only a second. gotta buy new muffs at the box store later on. can't find mine from 2 years ago:rolleyes:

Hey 3rdX
Welcome to the madhouse and insanity of Starcraft.
We have the exact same boat, I have a 68 as well..I'm a little late, but your carb should be the Rochester 2GC model.
Do you have a Mercruiser manual? If not, you need manual #1 that I have saved here.

hey cbkev, thanks for the link there,:). All right going to put up my video i did yesterday, the beast is alive:D

Was watching my own video again(love to that engine run):D anyway, wife was worried about the ticking noise. I told here it was pretty much normal for the gm 4 bangers, but that i would check the vavle lash. I'm correct on that the lash is adjustable??? Also i think i going crazy but i swear i smell gas in my oil when i check the dipstick. I hope that i just paranoid:facepalm:
