That was worse than a Steven King movie. It dint have to die.:( Hey are you going to use that steering? How long is the cable? If it dead its bones should at least keep something running.

I don't know how long the cable is. I cut the dash out and then unbolted the steering assembly from the piece I cut out.

When I stepped in the boat it was full f water with a layer of ice on top. I used my drill with a 5/8" bit and drilled holes right through the hull to let the water drain out. Im pretty hard on Bayliners I guess...:D

I like the boxes. Could add a lot of storage also. The seat setups in the new ones is PIMP

I like this set up with the boxes. I agree with jeff about the long lever/pedestal potentially being a problem.

HA I love the Islander a lot and I'll probably own one someday, unless a Chief shows up first. What a classic looking boat.

Bruce as always great job.

I finished up making the patch today. The bottom will be trimmed the day its installed. I have a buddy coming over after Christmas to help me rivet it on. It will take 2 people one to run the air hammer and the other to buck the rivets. Thinking over 200+ rivets for the install...

I also took the fuel tank out of the Bayliner. Looks like it just might work for a belly tank...

200 ribbits, wow, that is some work!

Yah, the 33 gal that is going in my rig came out of a Bayliner. Those hulls are great for ripping stuff out and throwing the rest away:eek:;):D

Yeah you can't get too attached to the sacrificial 'glass rig.

It seems that Alpheus is in a hurry to finish this project...so he didn't have the time needed to try to find someone to salvage that one.:)

Buying and scrapping boats is something that I do on the side. Boats are worth so much more money in parts than selling them whole. That Bayliner was the 9th one I bought and stripped this year alone.

I quit posting about tearing them apart after I took a bunch of guff after I trashedTHIS one.

Alpheus, it may just be my ancient 'puter, but the link didn't work, which is a pity as I'm firmly in the Alloy Club and enjoy your work so far! :p

Well today was a VERY productive day.

I had a buddy of mine drill and countersink the holes in the transom patch 200 of them.

I brought the patch home and was test fitting it to the boat when my Craigslist app buzzed on my phone. 5 minutes later I was in my truck and haulin ***** down the road to a persons house that was 2 miles from me. 15 minutes later with some cash and a handshake here it is.

Man Alpheus perfect power plant for the tin! and if the deck and such are in good order drop a 3.0 in there for a quick turn around and make a few bucks. I sure would like to come onto some of the deals you run into like this one or the Sea Ray for more power.

Im not a basher of Bayliners, its just they are worth far more money in parts than they are in running condition. Its sad because most the Bayliners that I buy are usually mechanically sound. The owners let the interior open to the elements and it ruins them. Most of these boats could have been saved with a 10 dollar tarp from Harbor Freight or Wal-Mart.

I mean look at the pic of the outdrive in the back of my truck. There is a box with a brand new boat cover that the guy threw in. The boat is soaked and has snow all over the interior and there sits the cover still in the box. I found the Bill of Sale in with the manuals he gave me. He paid 4800 dollars for this boat 2 years ago and I just bought it for 6.5 cents on the dollar of that. Crazy right???

Two Bayliners in one week! Crazy!

Hey, it kinda looks like that Merc is in there real good, does that doghouse surround come off or are you going to have to cut it out?

Nice work!
