Any suggestions on a good upholstery cleaner for back to back lounge seats?

Trying to clean up some seats tonight in the garage :)

As for your bow eye, Mine was rotted also, I used a chunk of mahogany and contoured the back of it to fit snug, then I coated it with resin, let it cure and glassed it in with 1708. I feathered it out about 4 inches all around.

Thanks ksmith.
I was also thinking of laminating some 3/4 inch acx together, sanding to fit, glassing it and glassing that in with some 1708 biax.

Re: 1971 Winner Bimini 17' Tri Hull

Well started on a few more items for the boat.

I stared drilling out the rivits on the hull.

Also I thought I'd see what I could do with the cowel vents.

After sandblasting them and then realizing I was just making the pits worse, I started by sanding the high spots with a 36 grit roloc disk and went to an 80 grit.

Glazing putty setting up before sanding it down:

I did get a coat of self etching primer on but did not get any pics.

I'll get some and post them before I sand it and spray on the first coat of filler primer.

Re: 1971 Winner Bimini 17' Tri Hull

I would like some thoughts and any suggestions on the following items:

1. The port side of the molded stinger system seems to be pulling up a bit. Maybe 2 ft. or so.
http://i767.photobucket.com/albums/xx320/fstorm08/1971%20Winner%20Bimini/IMG_2880_editCustom.jpg
When I am ready, after griding it down a bit, should I just mix up some PB and throw it in there and weight it down while it cures?

2. I have what appears to be a crack on the bottom of the hull. I drilled each end of the crack to see how solid it was.

Is seems like it was caused from a trailer at some point. The PO had just thrown some silicone on it.

I was thinking about cutting out a section of the box stringer system, fixing the area from inside and out, then glassing back in the section of the stringer section I cut out.

What do you think? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Tip:Use the IMG code to place your pics directly in your thread instead of the LINK.

1.) Grind the glass under the lifted area and sand the underside of the lifted piece as best you can and then mix some thickened resin with some fibers in it and then weight it down as you suggested. Then follow up using some CSM to tab the piece to the hull and finish with a strip of 1708

2&3 Yep that's the way to do it. Grind and Feather on both sides Thickened resin inside then csm and couple layers of 1708. Then several layers of resin and csm on the outside and sand and fair.

The motor does run but the water pump is gone which I think was the cause of the top cylinder to overheat (0psi). :(

Compression on the middle and bottom cylinder's are both @ 155psi and holds just fine. :)

I'm going to pull it off and check it out. I do not see any cracks on the outside of the top cylinder.

If she checks out solid (transom /stringers - deck is solid) then I will throw on a 40 HP Mariner I have that runs good so the family and I can get out on the water this year while I continue working on the Winner Bimini. Kids would like to go tubing this summer. :)

Will some PB work fine to fill some nicks and gouges on the hull before its prepped/primed and painted?

wouldn't be on my short list

Much better. Or MarineTex.

The Premium (#1) is what I used. Make sure to clean with acetone before you apply. I'd spray with some Rustoleum paint to seal it.

Re: 1971 Winner Bimini 17' Tri Hull

In case there is any future interest in the steps I took, here they are:

1. I first tried sandblasting but then realized that this was making the pits worse.
2. Next I used a 24 grit roloc disk and lightly took down the high spots.
3. I then moved onto an 80 grit roloc disk to it as well then blew off with air nozzle.
4. I then applied the Bondo Glazing (spot) Putty with a plastic spreader making sure to work it into the pits.
5. Once the glazing putty has set (I waited 2 days), I hand sanded with 150 grit then blew off with the air nozzle.
6. Threw on a coating of Rustoleum Self Etching Primer.
7. Next day I sprayed on 2 coats of Rustoleum filler primer.
8. The following day I used a palm sander with 100 grit paper and sanded down a little bit and cleaned with the air nozzle.
9. Repeat step 7.
10. Repeat step8.
11. I then sprayed on 1 more coat of Rustoleum Filler Primer and let it cure.
12. I then sanded by hand with 150 then 220 grit sandpaper and blew off with air nozzle and wiped down with a clean dry rag.
13. I sprayed on 2 coats of Rustoleum Metallic spray paint and let this cure for a day.
14. I then lightly sanded with 400 grit sandpaper and sprayed on 2 more coats of Rustoleum Metallic spray paint and let it cure.

That's about it. Depending on the job done with the glazing putty and depth of the pits, you may need to throw on a few more coats of filler primer and sand a bit more.

Re: 1971 Winner Bimini 17' Tri Hull

Well I thought I'd take advantage of the cooler weather this weekend and start grinding on the boat.

Transom before:

Transom After (Still have a bit more to do in the transom):

Also on the starbord bow - I have an area the looks like it was a sloppy repair that I will fix properly:

Have a lot more grinding to do which I am planning on spending most of next weekend on.

That's it for now.

Re: 1971 Winner Bimini 17' Tri Hull

I'm working on filling, sanding, priming and painting my engine hood of my 40hp Mariner.

Would bondo work for filling in some gouges or would some PB be better before the final sand, prime and paint?
