Re: 1972 Silverline Grand Bahama

I still havn't done any boat work. I have been working a ton of hours and flying solo since they let my help go. I'm hoping after christmas to hit it hard and start some glassing. The weather has been holding out for the most part. Theres some cold days and others are nicer. If I can make enough room in the driveway I'll bring it back home and throw a cover over it so I can work at my leisure.

Yep, nothing says christmas like grinding fiberglass and coming in all covered in dust :target:

Best of luck putting some time in on the boat(s) over the holidays.

I'll get to it someday. As soon as they get a few more people hired at work I will only be working 3 days a week. 7-7 on friday thru sunday and still getting paid 40 hours. That should give me plenty of time to get this old girl done. That's if I have the motivation.

Thanks for the kind words. It should be alot of fun and a good learning experience. I probably wont have time to work on any of my projects but they arent going anywhere. I need to get the jet boat and glastron tucked away in the shed and ill just work in the silverline when time allows.

Too bad because I was looking forward to your resto of the LS since I had a Medallion for 23 years. I loved that boat but the saltwater did not! Good luck with the new job and I will follow your other threads.

Not yet wood. He said early spring. I guess i wasnt real clear but this place does motor and drive work, not restoration type work. Just thought i would clarify.

Re: 1972 Silverline Grand Bahama

I made some room in the driveway today so I can get the Silverline brought back home. We had some snow the other day so I scooped the snow out as well so the driveway can dry since its supposed to be near 50 for the next week or so. I want to get it ready for the transom install since tax time is here and I should have a few spare pennies for supplies.

I'm still on the fence for driveline. I know I want twin mercs but havn't decided between 4 and 6 cylinder, even though I thought I made up my mind a while back  I guess it will come down to weight in the end.

Hopefully Monday I can get the boat brought home and transom ground down then I can start making my transom template.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend, myself, well it's time to go to work.

Re: 1972 Silverline Grand Bahama

Today i was finishing stripping stuff off one of my sacrificial boats. I cut up the deck to find a52 gallon fuel tank that will work perfect for the silverline. Even better than that is it was half full still :D That made my day.
Hopefully in the next few weeks i can get rolling on the big girl again.

Good deal on scoring a great tank! And some stuff to sell/recycle into another project...

BTW: I think hulls of this size & vintage prefer 'Robust'
Hopefully in the next few weeks i can get rolling on the big girl again.
