It seems I have been away from the forums for awhile. The new job has been keeping me busy. I am also trying to get a sandblasting business started. I have everything I need to get started. I'm hoping to get back on the boat soon. Hope everyone is doing well.

Thanks for all the kind words. Still no progress on the boat, although i did glance inside of it today. The boat i rebuilt the motor on for a friend this summer is now in my posession. The couple split up and she just wanted it gone. I plan on checking it for rot and redoing the interior to sell. I will also go back through the motor as it has steel freeze plugs and it didnt get marine gaskets as it was cost prohibitive for them at the time. I will try to post pics sometime this week. Take care all.

I'll be back to read through this thread but that's definitely a cool hull to have as a project. Certainly has about the most interior space you could possibly pack into a 23' package. I have to wonder why they used a trihull design though. Might be alright for a river cruiser

Still no progress to report. I have been working 6 days a week so I try to spend my free time with the family. I may be adding another horse to the stable this weekend. All I will say is berkely :) Let your imagination do the rest.

I also want to wish everyone a happy thanksgiving. I will be stuck at work but will get some time with the family before that.

Can I add jet to your 1 word and still be accurate? Hopefully it isn't an Elizabeth, you're in Nebraska, not Utah

Either way, it all makes for some very interesting imagining

Working helps float the boat fund, sorry some of it is gonna be on Thanksgiving. The 'new' midnight madness nonsense is crazy, as if black friday wasn't bad enough on it's own already...

Happy Thanksgiving to you & your's :)

Re: 1972 Silverline Grand Bahama

Well I went and picked up that jet boat today. It's an 18' American. It was originally powered by a 350 but there is no motor now. Not sure what I want to put back in it. The deck is totally shot and I'm sure the transom is to. It has a single center stringer so it should be pretty straight forward to repair.

It has a Jacuzzi jet drive though I originally thought it was a Berkeley but parts are still available for both. I will get a thread started and some pics posted in the next few days.

This should be fun as I have wanted a jet for a few years and the price was right :D

Hope everyone is having a good and productivs weekend.

Re: 1972 Silverline Grand Bahama

Well last night my wife was asking me about "Jenny" Thats what she named the Silverline, copying the name of the boat from forest gump.

I probably should get started back on her although she is buried in the back of the shed. She is fully gutted now and I did get started grinding on her.

I can probably continue grinding while its in thd shed. I will just need to take my shop lights out and a few extension cords. I would really like to start glassing and start on the detail work next summer.

I did ponder putting the jet drive in it since the jacuzzi yj's are made more for pushing heavy boats than speed boats but I think I will stick with my original plan of Mercs.

Next week I will probably start grinding again, although I despise it.

Re: 1972 Silverline Grand Bahama

I have been doing some thinking on the silverline and I think I will grind down enough so I can atleast get started on the transom. It is probably going to be the most time consuming part since I have that big hole to fill in. It shouldn't take me long to get to that stage since all the wood is already out of it.

Here is where she currently sits. It would be to much work to get her out so I will probably do all the grinding there and move it home when I'm ready to start glassing.

That is one large shed you have to work in. Don't envey you about the grinding..:sorry: Make sure you cover everything you don't want glass dust on.

I wish it was my shed. I get to store my big toys there. I will probably just throw the covers back over the silverline since other people store their toys there to.
