Re: 1972 Starcraft Holiday Hull Leakage
Any boat runs high price in Oregon.
Mine had a leak in it not that bad, but what it ended up being after a year of looking was a screw hole in the transmon with no screw in it. They had put some silicon in the hole and painted over it, so from the outside it was not visible. This drove me nuts for awhile.
Since you are looking at an I/O that is 1972, check the transmon, poke with a needle and look for soft spots, you could have a spot on the transmon that has eaten the alum through.
How is the trailer? Has the boat been in salt water for long periods of time, damage to the hull that could be leaking,
I bought a 1986 Cheiftain for $4300, was not a great deal because over the next 5 years I put lots of $$ into it. Transom was bad, floor was bad under the seats, engine failed, outdrive failed, just put axles and tires, brakes on trailer. But the goood thing is I have caught hundreds of pounds of good eating fish (salmon, halibut, rock bass, dung crab)
