Last Sunday i bought a 1973 Starcraft Nova, project that is 75-80% complete.

The PO did a new floor, new side panels, new dash, and dash top, everything needs to be installed. I have one pedestal seat that I'll install, and need to buy a second one.

It also needs the wood in the stern, I have 1 sheet of 3/4" marine grade, which I'll glue together with a waterproof high grade bonding glue, and I'll use 2000lbs of pressure to make sure the pieces have no voids (I have a 1/2 ton truck I am going to put on top of the plywood, to make sure it is flat).

She will also need power, until I find a suitable power source, I'll putt around with my 15hp kicker motor, at least get out into the bay and drop my crab traps ;-)

(no I dont have pictures, yet)

Welcome! As the Nova is a somewhat rare model, pics are even more required than usual :D

I really need to get a good picture of the StarCraft Nova logo, so I can have new ones made. I am going to repaint the boat, clean it up so it looks better..

Re: new to me..

Did Jas TeleFlex Extreme puma get left in a garage w/ your Nova? Hope those vertical scratches are less damage then they appear...

Hit Jas up w/ a PM & ask him for his vinyl logo guy's info... W/ what you've got posted in that 1st pix, he can likely replicate it pretty well.............

Welcome to the mob, plenty of life left in that Nova for sure, nice rig and doesn't look to be in bad shape.

Black might get hot in some climates, hopefully @BC it won't be too bad. I like the black w/ the red stripe.

You're dad's pix turned out just fine ;)

Man that rub rail took a beating also. Did the po give you any idea what caused all that. Interesting boat though, I' ll be following along with ya

I have a feeling the old gal wasn't tied up properly at the dock. Looks like the transom has been pulled or getting ready to be pulled, judging by the turned up corners. Hope you have the caps. Was she used in salt?

Novas have nice lines. I think it's got something to do with the windshield. They look speedy, even standing still.

And since we can see her now, welcome to the Tin Drydock. May your stay be brief, the water beckons. :D

he meant, may your stay in the DRYdock be brief, we hope you hang around here for quite a while.

that is a really ripe-for-resto example of one of the coolest SCs....i allus thought of it as their sports car, albeit made from the same basic stuff as our more mundane ones. think Jag "E" Type.....

what are you planning on doing with the hashed rub rail?

Nice old tin. Welcome aboard, like GA says, don't stay too long. lol JK.

Novas are pretty neat boats. She'll clean up with a little work.

Totally agree with GA on this ^^^. I'm really fond of the Nova's cool lines too!

Wow, what a bummer on that rub rail channel. The dock she was loosely tied to sure won that battle.:blue:

Re: new to me..

be glad that whatever ate the rear SB corner & rub rail (dock) couldn't reach that windshield!!

did you get details on how the PO restored the floor and what's underneath?

It will be a really nice project...sweet find!!
