I bought this boat for what I believe was a song. My family had a boat growing up but I don't remember ever riding it, so this boating thing is new to me. Honestly, I wanted a flying boat but this SRV was more realistic. This forum and Frisco's videos have convinced me I can get this tub back on the water before the close of summer(optimistic much?). I have some experience with aerospace composites. Ill admit that there was a moment when I considered an Aramid transom and decking.

I had a pretty good idea what this boat's condition was going to be. I knew the floor was soft. Here are the pictures:

Looks like a decent project. The outer hull looks good and that red will probably polish up really nice. Mercruiser is good. What the status on the engine? Yeah the interior is trashed but if you've watched Frisco's videos you already know what you're up against. Welcome to iboats drydock!

The hull has been refinished, what gave it away was their poor job of masking, I agree it should polish out nicely. I havent had a chance to get a good battery on the engine to find out if it is locked up. The oil looks pretty good so I will likely be gentle with the engine until I know its status. Pull the plugs, lube and rotate by hand. If I dont have to freshen it, I wont. With a weak battery install I have dash lights but none of the accessories work. I am missing trim for the both the left and right side interior.

Id like to know how this boat came off the line, that fuel tank will probably be removed. The transom appears to be solid, we cant get it to flex by man handling the outdrive or the personnel ladder. I will be drilling samples though. First thing will be a cover, poor boat needs to dry out. Its pretty damned heavy right now.

The last pic with the "crew" is an SRV220 Hardtop, proper looking boat IMHO.

Nothing dries out. If it's wet, it's gotta be replaced.

I mean it needs to dry out so I can work in it, Id rather not be working in a soup of rotted wood and rain water.

I wonder if Sea Ray will answer tech questions on a boat from the 70's. Ive only been able to find two examples of this boat, and show the fuel tank. Looks like I have creative license on reassembly.

Looks like no luck from club sea ray. I may call Sea Ray tomorrow but I doubt I will get much info. Plan is for motor and outdrive to come out this weekend. If it goes well I will start the removal of the transom.

Re: 1974 Sea Ray SRV193

I just recieved an email from Sea Ray and they said that the fuel tank IS in it's correct spot. Interesting.

Since my last post I have removed the engine (easiest engine removal on anything I have ever done, bar none). I have also removed the outdrive, some parts will need to be replaced. The transom was trash, I can scoop it out with bare hands. Im sure this doesnt surprise anyone.

I will do my best to get some pictures up loaded tonight. Soon I will be headed to the lake with a Larson that has a soft floor.

Welcome and good luck. I think I have a neighbor with the same boat. Not sure what the year is. I will investigate.
