You're cleaning out all the donors in your neck of the woods. Isn't this #2?

GA, Its the first donor for this project…….I'll get a pic of the scrap yard at the shop

Got the tires mounted and balanced today! Looking to make the trip north, during the week to bring her home(shop). Note the super aggressive, water displacing pattern in the tread. I laughed when the salesman talked about this…..come to think of it if I would have mentioned it was going on a boat trailer, he might have mentioned it wasn't a trailer tire….

Sorry for the crappy pic…

Re: 1974 Starcraft Chieftain

Jim, The donor came home on a sketchy, junk trailer I borrowed from the shop. I did repack the bearings and put a set of Harbor Freight magnetic tow lights on it. We had too much weight on the trailer, mast line broke half way home, scared the crap out of me when she started bobbling.

Poohbear, The brand on the is Doral? I've never heard of this brand but they were in the price range I wanted.

GA, There are so many boats being "recycled" I get confused my self. Didn't I see on out there where they cut the back of a Chieftain or Islander off?

I think those tires will be fine, all I run are passenger tires on my boat trailers. I think a car weighs more than an aluminum boat does anyway. I wouldn't use them on my utility trailer though for heavy loads.

SHES COMING HOME TOMORROW!!!!
Leaving for Michigan, tomorrow morning at 5am to get her to the shop before rush hour traffic in Columbus. Double checked the fluids, temporary trailer lights, packed extra grease, and loaded every possible tool and doodad I can think of including two super sized can of fix-a-flat.

I'm thinking of offering a gift, of libations, to Poseidon for a successful rebuild before the new crew mate arrives. I'm partial to Jim Beam vs Champaign. What do you guys offer to the Gods of the deep?

Hopefully your trip went well and you missed 2-5" of fluffy water that fell today. Your pick up point was about 30 miles from where I live.

I believe you're suppose to pour in into the deep as an offering...... However I do like your train of thought! She can smell an open beer from upstairs...

The blood is for the gods of trailering :)

Nope, drove right into it and then into the shutdown of I-69 and 94... What town are you in?

I left the house at 0500 and pulled back into the driveway at 2315. That was the toughest hull I've made yet! Gusts up to 30mph, Drifting snow, Windscreen washer nozzle clogged on the drivers side, and one heavy boat.... But shes safely back at the shop ready for her rebuild!

Looks like a white knuckle day. The yahoo morons are still driving like it's the first snow of the season. Don't know when to slow down or when to buy new tires.

I'm on the west side of Kalamazoo.

Days like the above allow for a true appreciation of the summer boating fun.
