I think your right Drew a swing away tongue will make it the perfect fit. Also agree on adding the proper tandem axle spring kit to it.

I might even be able to add 2-3 feet to the back. One of the front crossmembers is really close to the keel of the boat. If I add on to the back it should help with this.

Today I got the SS back in the garage so it can dry out from all the rain we have been having (not going to complain as we need the moisture). I also started working on my underfloor support structure. I'm using 1" x 1" 1/8" thick aluminum angle for this. I got one cut out and riveted into place. It is super strong. I think I am going to install them on every other rib and see how well that stiffens it up. If I have time at work tonight I will get the rest cut out of the material I already have. I think I'm going to need about 10' more to complete it.

The cost of that alum angle sure adds up fast (that's why I used a smashed ladder:facepalm but the strength it gives is sweet!

I had a 20' piece sitting around already so that one was basically free

good plan. i just made the mistake of looking at the Ace Hardware receipt and noticed the 4' hunk of 1.5" x 1/16"thick L-channel was $24...........

I think when I originally got the angle 2 years ago I got 2 25' pieces for around $70. This stuff is ridiculously priced at the hardware store. Thats why I just go to a metal supplier for all my stuff.

I got the rest of my supporrts cut out. I will need 6 more to complete it so about another 9' of angle should cover it. If I feel up to it when I get home I'll crack open a frosty and see if I can get a few put in.

I got home last night and put some of the braces in. I got two that I need to trim up some to make fit. Other than those two I got al the ones I had cut in. It really strengthened up the stringers.



I also got a little bored and started on the carpet reminants/ glue removal. I was using a wire wheel on the angle grinder. It actually went pretty fast. I think I may go this route instead of spending $200+ to have it blasted.

just get the big bottle of ibuprofen if you do whole boat that way. the torque is really tough on elbows and wrists, but it does do a great job.

It's still not as bad as grinding a glassser I'm just getting the carpet remnants off the inside with it.

I get bad pains in my wrists and elbows the way it is. I'm gonna be a trainwreck when I get older.

Lookin' good BN --- no doubt that will really add a good amount of support to the floor and to the rigidity of the 2 stringers.

I can't remember if you have a air powered riveter or you are going old school?

i believe you mentioned in another thread that you're going with 1/2 PLY on the deck as well...that's going to be light and strong...you'll be poppin' wheelies in that thing! nthego:

Ya I went with 1/2 to avoid the console/ windshield alignment problem. I did set the deck in today and it was solid as a rock where the braces are.

This morning I applied some paint stripper on the glue in the area I wired wheeled off the carpet remanants. I applied it, let it sit about 15 minutes and scraped it off with a plastic scraper. It worked really good. I think I can have the whole inside done this way in about 4 hours.



From what I can see, they put the carpet in before they put the cap on at the factory. There is alot of stuff I can't reach. I drilled out the rivets and have the cap ready to lift off. I know this is complete overkill but I know it will bother me having those carpet remnants under there even though I wont be able to see them. I can be a little OCD when it comes to my projects. It only took about 5 minutes to drill out the rivets so not a big deal there.

I did set a goal for myself. The weather is supposed to be really nice next week so I can get some stuff done. Here's what I want done by the end of next weekend.

*Finish removing glue and carpet.

*Primer and paint inside of boat.

*Apply gluvit to rivets and seams.

*Re-install cap.

I think this should be feasible. After all this is completed I can flip and get the bottom painted. The sides and cap will get painted after most of the inside work is done that way it's not full of scratches from crawling in and out of it.
