C'mon BG, no guts, no glory. Besides, buy a couple of rolls of green tape, make youre design on the side of the boat, apply the tape. If you don't like it..do it over or re design. No harm, no foul. And it will cost you a little time and about ten bucks. But if you DO like it..whoooo Hooo. Ok, my 2 cents.

If the vinyls going to cost me a ton then I will just try taping. I'll wait to see how much they want first. It's on the topsides and I'll have to see it all the time so it needs to look decent. I'll keep everyone posted .

I'd also be concerned about the vinyl pulling off your paint when you remove it!

I will try it out first to make sure it won't.

It's the stuff they put on cars for stickers and stuff. It will come off without much hassle and just leave a bit of stickiness but that's after a year of being on. I don't plan on it being on for that long, just enough to paint.

I do appreciate the concern though .

Got more wood cut tonight. Just one more small piece at the bow to cut, and I'll be done with the deck.

Put my stringers in for a test fit. They are just temporally held in place with some screws.

Got all the deck in for a test fit.

Only thing now is this piece may need some more cutting. I'm not sure if it is sitting right on the ribs

So that's it for now. Took everything out of the boat so it wouldn't warp over the weekend (I need it out anyways). I'm going to order some rivets online tonight for the stringers, and maybe deck.

Next week I'm going to try to at least get the Gluvit down. We are going to get some better temps. Then need to test fit the deck again once the stringers are tied down better. Then start getting my epoxy on the bottom sides of the deck. Let's hope I can get some wood in soon. Also need to cut my transom soon...

Thought I was going to order rivets, but I have a question. How much does the "grip range" of a rivet matter.

I assume that I would need a larger grip range for holding down the deck than holding two pieces of aluminium together. Is that right? Could someone help me out?

I just need rivets for the stringers right now, but what should I look for to hold down my 5/8" deck?

I would think the grip range would be pretty important and should equal the total thickness of the material.

Ordered my rivets tonight! So they are on their way . Going to order a new trailer coupler, and LED light set soon.

This week I want to at least get started on cutting the transom, and getting it at least test fit. I think it warped a bit since I took it out, so I will do a few quick measurements.

Also need to get Gluvit down, she is all nice and clean now. Maybe one last wipe down, and should be good to go. How long have I been saying I would have Gluvit going down?... :facepalm:

My holes on the transom are filled now, and I just sanded them. So one more quick top off to get them level, then I can prime and paint the transom. Topsides on the boat are all sanded and ready to go for primer now as well, I think I'm going to wait on those till the deck goes in.

I'm getting somewhere. Just need to find the motivation again. It's there somewhat, but just have been thinking too hard and spending too much time on here :facepalm: .

Quick question guys! Should I do some sort of backer deal where seats 'may' go? I'm thinking two pedestals up front, but still am not sure of what kind yet. Choices, choices...

Hey Boayguy, on my 16SS I glued a 5/8 plywood backer on the under side for each pedistal. It takes some carefull mesuring though, so the backer doesn't interfere with the cross ribs. It made a real difference in how stable the seats were, and gives the stainless screws that hold the pedistal mount to the floor full thread contact.

If your not sure I'd suggest putting big backers in anyway. Even if you decide not to use pedestals before you lay the floor down. You leave options for later on and its eazy to do now.

I think backers are a great idea. Just thought I'd get a concensus first . I got some .450" and some .950" ones. I did a couple math things to get the lenght and grip range. I think I should be close enough. I may need to use some deck screws to get the deck pulled down in a couple spots though. Thanks for coming by MichaelP!

Well happy Friday, and weekend guys! I'm hoping this will be a marathon weekend for me, I need to get a lot done if I want to get this finished soon. My May 25th, or whatever, date probably won't happen from the looks of things :facepalm:.

So if I'm going to do anything, I would love to get Gluvit down, transom painted, get the new transom cut out, and finalize the deck wood. Let's see what happens .

Ohh and now that the leaves are out I've got a bad sinus infection, and allergies are acting up. Which sucks because I've had a headache for the past couple days and it's been hard to concentrate.

Dang dude, I filled up today with diesel and it was only $4.13 a gallon without my freddy's discount. Yes it is going to be a very long summer.

It has started going down a bit, more in the $4.20 range now, and a couple lower around $4.10. Really makes you wonder why there is so much change for a couple extra miles.

$4.13 for diesel isn't too bad though, and I'm still wondering how it's more than gas is. A long time ago it was always cheaper then it all of a sudden became more expensive. I would love an F250 with a 7.3L or one of the new 2011's(in my dreams) . I love the power and sound of diesels.

I don't understand how it is more either, as I have been told that it is not as refined as gas and therefore cheaper to produce.

Well I do love my F350 and the best thing is its paid for. I could not get a new one if my life depended on it, paying $45,000 for a new truck at least is crazy. Now if you used it for work and could write it off that would be another story, but for personal use I could not justify it and the wife would be the ex if I bought a new one.

Well I just filled the truck up yesterday for the trip down to Minot to pick up the SS, and up here gas rings up at $4.9924 for a US gallon, ouch. Sounds like you have a busy weekend ahead of you.
