No No. I can't sew. I said I have the vinyl to do, I'm not doing it. lol. I'm getting the seats and the side curtains re-newed. The rest of the vinyl I can do because there is no sewing to do. Just cutting and stapling. I found some colour samples I may share on here to get peoples opinions.

Well heck, go buy a sewin machine and Learn. I did!!! Heck If I can do it, ANYBODY can. Sphelps did and he did a GREAT job, The Judge even started his own business once he learned how. I've seen your work, I KNOW you could do the sewing, you just got to get over the "Girly Man" stuff and dive in.:p

Guaranteed NO man card violations will be issued for learning to do your own upholstery...now if you start making paisley, embroidered dresses, that may be another matter altogether......:D

Trust me, it has nothing to do with being a girlie man. lol. I admire the work you guys do but I would not even try to sew anything. I would end up with my fingers sewn to my ears or something. :D . Here are a couple of pictures I've enclosed the samples of the vinyl I want to use. The first two, obviously, are my boat colours. The next two are the samples I'm looking at. The small one on the left is a piece of the original curtain. The middle is a very close sample. It has a hint of silver through it. The one on the right is a blue/black and I really like it. I haven't decided if its too much of a contrast or not. I'm still looking for a good sample of a medium blue similar to my seats. I'm sure these pictures don't do justice for these samples. I'm also thinking of a dark blue for flooring.

I will. If you find something you like, I'll order it for ya, then ship it to ya unless that's a problem that I'm not aware of.

Wow, guys, I don't know what to say. You both are very generous and kind. UPS and USPS both ship here to Canada. Thank you both and if I decide that's the way I'll go, I will let you know. My problem is that I can't decide what colours I like. I wish they would only have a couple to choose from. lol.

Contact the vendors and ask if they have sample swatches available, most do and are usually very happy to oblige...:)...even if you have to get it the round-about way...

Re: 1978 MFG Gypsy Rebuild

I finally got all the wood taken off the transom. I just started on one side and slowly scraped off all the remnants. I then got the plywood cut to shape, screwed, cut, shave, scrape, fit until I'm finally at a place where I'm happy with the fit. Both pieces cut shaped and now laminated together with pl premium and a ton of screws. And now it sits in the garage. Dry time.

A bit of delamination of the fiberglass? Perhaps

Looks more like the transom was adhered to the transom fiberglass skin w/ a layer of resin & glass. The wood imprinting & the knot hole in the bottom left corner make it look like it's the plywood transom glass skin, not delamination of the transom fiberglass. IMHO anyway:)

Transom ply looks fab!

Thanks guys. Yeah Wood, I'm going to use your idea for transom clamps but I can't wrap my head around the idea of how they work. I'm missing something. lol. I see the top of these is wider so you have something in the centre of the two up top. Then you just tighten the bottom bolts and voila. Right? I am also thinking I can use the drain holes and transom eye bolt holes as well.

The transom clamps work like great big versions of these:
