Got the motor off the boat and on the stand today. Think my first order of bidness is getting the motor all cleaned up and painted a single color (instead of three) and slaping some new decals on.

Yah Charlie, those colors you have there just won't do buddy. Poopy green is just no good.

Hey, the sun we had yesterday gave us a little hope, huh?!

It sure did, just need some 50 degree temps so we can break out the shorts. LOL

True story. Had another pair of hands helping though. Had some old Guy down the road help. Is he walking funny today?

Thought Id check in and give an update, been slow going, still waiting for a little warmer weather to really get me motivated. Just been working on repainting the motor. Hood is all painted and ready for decals. Rest of it has one coat of rusto on it and I ran out of paint.

The hood on this motor is fiberglass, I had to pull out some staples that where holding the old broken and dried up rubber trim on the bottom. Just doing that little bit when I went inside my hands were all itchy and my face if I touched it. I dont know how you glasser guys do it.

Picked up some sheet vinyl and cut the stripes for the motor, think they turned out ok. Good enough that I dont think the fish will mind one bit. :D

And tools have officially entered the boat, two interior panels have been removed. On a side note I wish I was a foot shorter or the garage rafters where a foot higher, standing up in this behemoth inside the garage is a challenge.

The beer was innocent. Obviously a design flaw by whoever built the garage..

Got the kids to bed tonight and went caveman on the tear down.

First order was to get the beutifull faux wood grain vinyl panels off. This was factory, the wood still had the part descriptions on it. They are just starting to rot (not bad since they're like 32yrs old) but will make perfect templates.

Next where the two side trim pieces that went up under the bow. These where in fantastic shape, hardly a water stain on them. I will be reusing the wood on there since the have a bent curve to them they will fit back in nice and easy, just need to recover them.

Windshield and step pulled out, my arms are still shaking from taking the nuts off the stupid 4 inch long bolts holding the windshield down.

Re: 1978 Starcraft Holiday Rebirth

Now after reading through Sprints Holiday thread earlier today and I was stressing about the next part. I was looking at his tear down because I was concerned about removing the step if it was a support for the dash, seen he took it out so it must be safe....... and then I saw it. POUR IN FOAM!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOO!:eek::facepalm:

I was expecting the worse when I popped up that first water logged 200lb piece of plywood from the floor, and this is what I saw.

If it wasnt for the fear of bashing my head on the shoplight again or worried about the week floor supporting my slender frame I may have danced some sort of jig.

Oh and by the way, something pooped in my boat all the way up front. I dont know who and I dont know when, but it was there. And it wasnt some mouse poop either, this was some serious business. Im thinking a yetti was living in there.

Epoxy question - How much do you guys think Id need to order to do my transom, seat boxes, and those side panels that will be recovered in vinyl? So not the floor, thats getting that magic poly something rubber paint stuff I used on the Falcon. Will more than likely be going with an exterior grade ply.
