Re: 1980 Rinkerbuilt Renovation (Paint and Powder)
Well, thanks for following along everyone, but I've decided to change directions.
It turns out my Frankenstein engine will cost about $1000 to rebuild (at best), and then I'll still need to pay for the interior, not to mention fix up the trailer, etc. During all my research I started noticing how much parts are going for. And now that I have the engine completely broke down, and I'm also an eBay power seller, I might as well part it out. I have the complete lower unit off, and that goes for around $600. The windshield can go for $300-$400. I can get maybe $200-$300 off the trailer I'm hoping. Maybe the boat itself is worth something to someone. I still owe $600 on the boat, so after selling the LU, I'll start banking the rest and looking for another boat.
I've set my next budget at $2500, which opens up a lot of possibilities. With all my new found knowledge, I know exactly which boats to look for, and what to look at when I inspect them. I hate to see "A Dog's Life" go to pieces, but it only makes sense at this point.
Thank you all so much for your help and guidance! This has been a long fun learning experience, and I can't wait until the next chapter!
