Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Gonna come home to find an empty garage & a note that says "Gone fishing".

HA! She may just do that to me eh!

Well, I got her one step closer to ditching me for a day on the lake. SHIFT and THROTTLE controls just got hooked up:D

Sorry to hear about the starter problem. Should be a quick fix for you. The trim tab is now a custom tab, hang it on the wall.

The steering cap looks alot better painted black. And the shift and throttle controls and aluminum backing plate or as usual AWESOME.
Hope you get the starter worked out this week.

Little bit of 3in1 down the shaft would be my first try in the morning.

GOT IT!

BATT CABLES!!

:rolleyes::facepalm:;):D

lol

loose or other?

I used 4 ga leads from a car stereo shop, then soldered the ends on real perdy (sloppy) then covered over my blob with shrink tubes :D

they work great so far, and they are super flexable :)

Yah, it's a great day when you don't have to rebuild/replace a starter:D

----------------------------------------------------------

K, besides sorting out electric juice to the engine I have been working on lots o wiring lately. I made all the connections to the ignition, got the fuse block wired, and wired up a new harness for all the gauges.

This morning I made the last connections and thought I'd hit the key to see if they actually work. Check it out...

WWWWOoooooooooohhhhhhhhooooooo!!!!!:D First crack, first try, right otta the gate, they work!!:D

The tach zeroed out, volt bumped, even the fuel moved just a smidge so I know that's reading too!! And they lit up, sweeeeeeeeeeet! The photo doesn't do em justice, they look super cool!! They even give me a little light under the helm there too:)

The only gauge I don't have complete is the temp. I have yet to sort/figure/work through the temp sender setup.

I am totally pumped at what I am seeing there ^^^^:)

Hey, this is an important day in history!

13 years ago I somehow convinced a smokin hot chick by handle Jennifer to marry me!!:D

Here she is at the cottage...

Yah, she's in her jammies, and she would punch me right in the face if she knew I posted that photo:eek::eek:

But she has a fishing rod there so I thought it was iboats appropriate:D

Love you Jen, thanks for letting me hang around:)

Hey what remote control box are you going with on this one? I'm thinking of getting the cool BRP one like you had on the Jet. Is there any reason not to besides $$$???

Look up just a bit and you'll see the OMC controls I installed;)

Yah, those BRP controls were sweet! I got a super deal on em otherwise they are major cash. Those controls are set up for post 1996 engine harnesses so yah, you and I are working off of old stuff.

You'll need controls that hook up to the BIG RED ROUND PLUG. I still have a set if you need em.;)
