Sweeeet!

BTW, here's a tip...in the pic of the grip tape...you see the bolts holding the trailer lights...if you don't want to cut them off short with a dremel and a cut-off wheel...you could get some "Vacuum Caps" at the auto parts store and put them on there to prevent getting skewered by them...

Looks like a GREAT final summer trip. Between now & bow season, there will be plenty of weekends for fall fishing I'm sure. Now relax enjoy the last of Labor Day ;)

Then Jen called me and said the whole family was on the way out to the lake for a boat/beach day, dad, cousins, brothers, sisses, nephews...

The boat ran awesome and handled a full load of family like butta!

I did take the time to check gauges today. Here's what I see:

Fuel gauge looks accurate (all be it painful @ 4 bux a gallon).

Volt looks accurate, so good there.

Temp looks like it hovers right around 100 + or -, happy with the guy who installed the new water pump. He's seems great with a wrench and heckava handsome too;)

Tach looks like it's reading spot on too. Right about 3500 is good cruising and WOT looks like it's about 5200. The engine itself is running just a little rough at idle speed. Hardly an issue but when I hang her up for the winter maybe a carb rebuild is in order.

Couple other observations:

The boat trailers, launches and lands super easy. I can be on and off the dock in minutes. Great for busy Labor Day dock time.

The hull handles super, corners sweet! Overall it has a solid feel bow to stern. Very Happy Captain...

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Thanks guys, appreciated! Hey Gus, good suggestion thanks man, I returned the favor over on your thread:D

Well, this SN isn't yet done, still technically in Sea Trial mode and a bunch more building to happen but I am really excited that I was able to wrap up the summer with a few runs;)

Oh ya, I may be a little slow on my posts here on iboats. I think my phone is at the bottom of the lake:facepalm:

A tip from somewhere, not an original thought:

Keep your cell in a small heavy duty zip lock bagw/ just a bit of air while boating. Keeps it afloat, keeps it dry, and you can still read/text thru it :)

NOTE: Best to keep it out of the sun while in the ziplock. If you're an off-roader or have access to it, you could slightly fill the bag w/ nitrogen gas  Significantly less chance of condensation, in the sun or not..

After years of following along it's great to finally see dead fish!

Jas the boat is excellent looking setting at the beach.
It's great to see the boy's having so much fun with their Dad. There's nothing like taking home the fish and getting to eat it. I used to take my kids out camping and fishing all the time. They have some great memories and so do the wife and me.
Keep taking the boys out fishing, you won't regret it later in life.
What a great thread.

Super Duper awesome Jas. Congrats on such a clean and bomber build! So happy for you and those Kiddo fishing pics are priceless.

Btw, I showed Lady Scoutabout and my ten-year old boy your Angry Badger Xtreme Steering Box Tackle vid today and they both busted a gut laughing. All time iboats classic entertainment right there.

(and I promise it wasn't a case of us Canucks laughing at how you pronounce the word "box" either...:D)

Hey thanks for swinging through doods!

Yah, the phone was there one minute, then I went to reach for it in my pocket and it was gone. I looked everywhere and best I can figure is it wanted to go for a swim, rats!:(

Glad I could entertain my Kanuck friends scout:D

Yah decker, I am really looking forward to getting a bunch more days like this next summer:)

-------------------------------------------------------

OK, morning progress.

I was pushing my cure times on the engine cover last week and the finish didn't turn out the way it should. So, I sanded with 320 (again). Then I thought I would get artsyfartsy and paint my gasket navy blue to match my new Evinrude decals. I thought that would be pretty cool...

OK, so I'm pretty sure I hate it and I'll repaint it black. I really ought not be artsyfartsy, I suck at it:facepalm:

So maybe you should just pick one. Just let us know if you decide on artsy or fartsy. Or maybe you should let your family know... :)

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Is there a battery inside than motor cover??? Deja vu all over again. :D

Last time you put yourself (us ) through such agony, it was over batteries. For a man creative enough to use a ladder as structure for a boat, why does this have to be so hard?

On a more serious note, great weekend. Boat looks wonderful.

The black would look good but the blue gives it a touch more of class. :D

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Dropping the red graphic down closer to the 'belt' line just above the hood gasket would tie the blue gasket back to the red/blue Evinrude graphic....

Boat looks great and it sounds/looks like the whole fam had a great time!!!

I am still learning that I am no good at color coordination!! Blue... Black... White... all the same to me man! You could just re-paint it each week --- a theme for the week if you will!

Enjoy!
