Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Anybody else notice he's not posted much anywhere, and certainly nothing around these parts since the whole pants wearing comment yesterday?

Hmmm.....

PMC now would be a great time to drop the: 'Yeah, he wears the pants around his place, as long as you mean his Hammer-time pants' pix:facepalm:

As I recall Jas works in a school, it started yesterday and I'm sure he is getting his share of startup questions and issues as any counselor should.

That and he has no phone.

I think the reason for MIA is his phone is sleeping with Luca Brasi. Cue the Godfather theme.

Yikes, it's been a long/hard week. Man am I ever glad I actually got this SN on the water last week, that helped get me thorough!

No special progress over the past few days. I did hit that engine cover gasket with flat black and it should look a whole lot better. I also got all the hatch covers I shaved down sealed up again.

My bro was talking about getting a tube behind this boat this weekend, that would be pretty fun!:D

Have a great weekend guys!

I hope you have wet suits if you're going tubing. That or G force suits.

I know it cooled off enough over here that we aren't even thinking of tubing this weekend.

Boat looks great and glad to see you're getting use out of it this year as planned.:D

I say leave the blue you can always repaint it later if you truly hate it.

Well, no tubing today guys. Bit cold and pretty windy so no bother. It actually kinda felt like a fall day today, really nice! Tomorrow looks pretty good for a tube run though, maybe:)

I did get a bit of work done today, I hope I can get some photos up for ya in the a.m.

Overall, that was a pretty lame post so lets get some Chilli Peppers in the house...

OK, as promised, update. It seems these two jobs should have been done long ago but today was the day.

FINALLY got the transom caps on! You can see I went with the "brushed" look rather than going polished. I went back and made the bow cap brushed as well, I just like em that way I guess. Coat of Shark Hide on em too...

FINALLY got the engine cover painted up proper! Flat black on the gasket Rustoleum Pro white for the cover. Now as you know I have struggled with those decals having the darker Evinrude white background. Check these out...

No background! Not a sticker so no color matching necessary!

These are decals made by David Shabestari and you can find him here...

He handled all the decals on this SN as well as my Jet Star. He is super awesome to work with, lightning fast, very flexible, a great communicator and his prices are the best in the biz, seriously! Thanks again Dave!

You can see up there I omitted that "swoosh" but decided to add the "V4". I really like the way these turned out! The Evinrude on the front side is a little off kilter, I moved my shoulder just as I was lining it up, it stuck and that was that. Rats. Bah, it's on so that is that.

I know this engine is pre BRP but since I installed a BRP water pump I figured it was legal to add a pair of these...

Looks good Jas. I'm not very observant and didn't even notice the off kilter until you pointed it out.

Curious - did you try the swoosh between the Evi and V4? I really liked the swoosh.

Looks great brutha!

Hope tubing goes well today!

Looks like I may have some people chicken of cooler weather. The day is absolutely beautiful this morning, but it certainly feels like fall. We'll see who wants to go to the lake later after some church and some lunch:)

Yah, it's not too bad till you are actually looking at it, ah well:rolleyes:

Yah the swoosh kinda reminded me of eyebrows on the back side of the motor. Once I thought of that it was all over for the swoosh. I figured I could have trimmed em so they stayed just under the Evinrude but that might be just a little to busy for plain ol Jas. I may give that some more thought yet.

All the same, I do like that this boat has just a little color back there:D

Great job Jason, looks real good, I agree the swoosh add a lot to it, an I prefer the first pick version.
