Re: 1984 Silverton 34C Remodel/Update/Upgrade PIC HEAVY

Al's had a hiccup with the hull polishing. Used buff magic and it worked well. I read the directions wrong on the pro polish and it looked like garbage. My father spent part of his vacation re buff magicing the hull, and last night we polished it up. It came out fairly nice for a 28 year old boat.

And a side by side before and after on the topside.

Also plan to polish and add a clear that works in the water to the exhaust ports.

Hull looks great, although that pin stripe isn't up to your usual standards ;)

One of my projects is the same boat.

Were working on making sure it'll run out to the gulfstream and back to fish, instead of all that pretty work your doing. Which looks great!

Needed to rebuild both motors and the complete fuel system, but it's running good now. Not fast 22 knots top end and 16 cruise.

Keep up the good work, I'm diggin the photos.

Ezmobee, that pinstripe was out on next years to do list.

A bit of motor work has been done. Found out the risers and manifolds are in great shape and it was a worn impeller causing a bit of warm temps during survey.

The Epifanes is UV resistant. The CPES acts to block moisture. Between the two I hope the teak stays nice looking for a while.

Absolutely stunning woodwork and the finish on the hull is amazing too. When you can read fine print in the reflection, you've done well.

How in the world were you able to keep cat hair out of the wet varnish, mustang, or paw prints for that matter???

Great work man, I love me some shiny teak, lol Truly looks amazing, be careful when wet.

I still think teak makes a boat a boat. Seriously looks fantastic, keep up the good work. The stainless looks great also. might have to get me some buff magic just for the stainless, not giving up my Triple XXX woody wax. :)

Thanks, the Buff Magic is actually really good stuff. We still have to hit the green with pro polish, and then finish the topsides. All in due time.

Looks great Mustang. Did you clear coat that exhaust port with anything?

What bottom paint did you use?

It will be cleared with an anti fouling clear coat. We will see how it holds up. The bottom paint was Interlux Ultra Kote. Got it for less than 1/4 cost.

Great deal on the Ultra Kote! They recommend VC-17 around here, but I know I've got something else on the bottom presently. I'm concerned that the VC-17 won't stick and I don't have time this year to take it down to bare fiberglass. Next year. What you used looks like what's on mine. I guess I'll ask the yard if they know what will stick. Someone I talked to said "Bottom Kote" will stick to anything. Maybe Ultra Kote will too.

For the price the paint couldn't be beat. We are fresh water so no barnacles to deal with. If it fails, it may get a soda blast and redo next year.

I'm fresh water too. Lake Michigan mostly, but my slip is off the river and we get some scum and slim and growth. I'm intrigued by this idea of soda blasting. I've looking into it here too. I've planned on trying to sand the bottom down myself and then apply an epoxy barrier coat. I dread the time and effort of sanding that whole bottom, but the prices I've seen to soda blast were pretty steep.
