The audience rises in astonishment and wonder, then suddenly breaks out in raucous applause and cheering!

Well done!

PS- definitely look into the hot running...my limited understanding of outboard engines, is that since they have an unlimited supply of cold water coming in, the water coming out should never be much more than very warm [maybe, 140-160 degrees F]...
Could be a bad sending unit, temp gauge, or you may have something more serious...I hope not and also hope you can get it sorted out...

As far as windy and shaky video, that's OK, too...it gives us here on dry land a real feeling of action!..

Happy Boating, Captain!

Thanks GT :)

The engine feels like it's running ok. It's just when you see a gauge that goes into the "hot" section, even if you know it may be an erroneous reading, it still sows the seeds of doubt!!

But honestly mate, the speeds are unreal. When I took my dad for a blast up the river we really let it rip. It was going so quick the skin on our faces was flapping about!! :D

If you ever visit the UK GT you're more than welcome to take Bumblebee out for a blast!!

I've been following your work, too. Loving the colour paint you're using. Very sleek

Thanks, if I can get over to the correct side of the pond, you bet I'll take you up on the offer to take the BB out for a spin...

Yeah, if the water's just coming out warm, I would definitely suspect the gauge or sending unit...

Later,
GT

Great work Kwik. Just found this thread and had to read the entire thing! You have provided some good inspiration for the forthcoming continuation of my rebuild. Cheers, JM

Yeah the water that was coming out was warm. In fact it was quite hot. You couldn't hold your hand under it for longer thatln about 5sec. That normal on these V6 lumps?

Probably not a bad idea to get an infrared temp gun and get an accurate reading off the heads.

I agree with Bonairll... check the temps, sounds too hot...

Get some feedback from the engine gurus...

Turns out it was down to speed. When I'm going dead slow or at an idle then the popet valve is shut, so the heads get warmer. When I give it some throttle then more water passes through and the popet valve opens, temps go back to normal. At least I know gauge and the senders aren't faulty!:D

Anyway, as promised here are some videos! Sorry about the TERRIBLE audio, but it was taken on an iPhone :(

Haha yeah I realise that now! I didn't even notice at the time I was shooting the video with the phone in portrait. I guess it's just habbit the way I hold it.

I'll try and get some better footage, hopefully with less wind noise next time!

Thanks for the vids...what a rush...Bumblebee flat out scoots...gets on plane faster than you can say, SWEEEET!

And talk about pegging the 'ol speedo...you are definitely gonna have to get a higher reading speedo or a G P S...

Looks like you are propped just about perfect according to the tach...what was that about 5400-5500 RPM's at WOT...???

Keep on having a BLAST! :D

Thanks GT! Yeah looks like I'll have to verify the top end with a gps. I tried using TomTom on my phone and it reckoned I was doing 68mph
You've got a keen eye watching that video as yes it was about 5400-5500 RPM @ WOT!

Ideally I'd like less top end speed and more lower end hole shot so I'm thinking about another prop. I'm currently using a 13.5" 23p Laser II, but I think a 13.75" 21p Trophy Plus or a 13.75" 21p High Five might be the way to go. I'll just have to save up as neither of those are cheap in England!!

I also need to work out a better way of taking a good video without the wind noise on my phone. I haven't got a camcorder (never need one) so can't just stick a sock over the mic lol

I've got an app on my phone called Dynolicious. It measures 0-60 times in cars and also measures how many G's you're pulling. Puts it on a neat graph too. So next time I'm down I'll do that :)
