Trailer looks nice.

So would this go deep or stay shallow for loading?

Looks great, well done. The hybrid bunks are interesting, will you use 'bunk' carpet to wrap the 2X4's? I have a galv roller trailer that I'd planned to convert to bunks.....

Thanks jb, just waiting for my oreder to get Ihave some navy blue bunk carpet coming.

Very nice, Glen. The diamond plate and wheels add just enough bling. The four fenders really do show off nice. Hybrid roller bunks - Don't forget to send that idea to the CA patent office. Gotta protect yourself from those patent trolls.

Thanks GA, will have to wait on the patent to see if it works.

Wow does that look great, very unique idea with the bunks, that's probably a $5000.00 trailer

Thanks Bud.

Looks great Glen. I was thinking about painting my trailer dark blue, but I'm not sure now. The light blue sure does look sharp. Brian

Thanks Brian, the blue is Rustoleum Pro Saftey Blue

Thanks 64, The boat should sit about an inch lower on the trailer than with the rollers. I never got to try the boat prior to the tear down so I don't know how it worked before. I do know the rollers left some nice dents in the hull I had to straighten. I'm thinking with the boat launch I use, I will have to back in to the top of the rear fenders.

Sharp! Really Sharp! Diamond plate looks awesome! Lovin' the bling rims too! I'm sure you will find that you will need as you say to just go to the top of the wheel wells. These boats need very little water to float --- I've never had a problem with not enough water! After using bunks last season --- I am a big fan... given that my boat is a lot lighter than yours, I still think your's will pull up with no issue!

Nice work! So.... now you can get back to boat work and be done with dang trailer work!!! :)

Dozer, the trailer looks exceptional. The blue with diamond plate and black accent really sets it off. I just put the 60" guide ons on mine. They work great especially if its a deep / steep launch.

Thanks Jim and Tman, still have to wire the trailer, mount the light, keel rollers and bunk carpet. Then I can get back to wotk on the boat. This was another Motorhome weekend, so no boat stuff got done.

Well after the big March in like a Lion Storm, she is going to be a SNOW DAY:rockon::canada: Got the top of the boat sanded already this morning, do some clean up and hit the bare aluminum areas with a little self etching primer. Hopefully will have the top painted this week.

Hey Glen I see you've painted a few boats and trailers and they look great, I've painted a few as well but just used rattle cans, I'd like a professional looking paint job on my current restore and I'm not sure I want to pay someone 1000.00 - 1500.00 to paint it for me, I want to paint my V5 myself, but I only have a small duel tank construction compressor, I bought a hlvp gravity feed sprayer, you probably have a heavy duty compressor am I right, do you think I will be able to paint the topside of my boat with it or do you think I should either rent or buy a better compressor??

Hey Bud, I'm using the HVLP guns from Princess auto and a twin cylinder 60 gal compressor. I would say your compressor may be a little small. If your only doing the top of the boat you might get away with it. What type of paint are you going to use?

Stay away from Tremclad, I made that mistake on the trailer under my 18 SS. The Rusto site says Tremclad is the Canadian version but not even close. It takes for ever to dry and is tough to put on. You can buy the Rusto Pro at Acklands/ Grainger, and if you work them hard you should be able to get it for $45-55 a gal compared to Tremclads $26 a quart. Thin it with Acetone and it drys real fast to the touch, but still takes a while for full cure.

Thanks for the heads up on rostolium vs tremclad, heard a few people say tremclad was just canadian version and I assumed that, might think about getting a bigger compressor often needed one any way, princess auto has a 60 gallon for $549 then I'll have one, still save on paying some one else to paint the boat, and could use it on other paint jobs without any worry.

That's what I did Bud I just wish I had of went for the bigger one,( you know the Story). as far as thining with acetone, i would say 20 to 25 % I go by the consistency, i don't know how to explain it, but it has taken a while to fiqure it out. Probably about the consistency of milk, and it goes on without runs or orange peel. hope that helps. I'm sending you a PM.

I called Acklands and they say they don't have rustoleum pro and also they said they don't sell to the public, but I'll have to keep looking, Menards in Grand Forks ND has rustolium marine topside 1 quart size so if I don't find it here I'll buy some there next time I go there.

Those guys at Acklands are full of it. Rusto pro is listed in there catalogs and I can walk in off the street and buy from them. Home Depot also sells the Rusto Pro but in small cans for much more Dough.
