That should be ok, my dad runs a Yamaha 8hp 4-stroke kicker on his 23' Seaswirl and it pushes it fine. You could look into one of the Minn Kotas that mount on the lower unit as well if you didn't want the hassle of mounting a kicker bracket.

Looks like the rig came with a fuel meter on the dash? That would be a handy gauge to have working to monitor GPH.

Yeah, the GPH gauge will be nice, not sure if they all work though as the hour meter only reads 157. I have a hard time believing she only had 157 hours on the motor. She also hs an autopilot system and bennet trim tabs. Looking forward to warmer temps so I can start playing with everything!

Looks like you got took. I feel bad will you take 2100 for it? Great boat man. Watch for the law I think you stole it.

Deal! Thanks, I think I did well. Only time will tell.

By the way....

I really like that big fat padding all around the gunwale there. That would be the direction I am headed on the Islander.

Great new rig man, have fun with it!

Thanks! Yeah the pad is actually in really good shape. You should definitely set something like that up on the Islander!

Such a cool boat. I love the walk around and the bracketed outboard. Heck there's $2k worth of just accessories on that thing. What a deal.

You'd want a 15HP kicker on that and no one is going to leave one of those attached to an old rotted hull. I think you've gotten lucky enough already Mr. Save some for the rest of us :p

Yeah it looks like I can get a used 1995-99 225hp OB for around 3-4k, so even with that I'd be at 5-6k total. I still think that would be a decent price for the package with a solid running motor.

If it's got a good bottom end,why not get that one redone?

That would be my plan, but I'm just looking at the most expensive option. I always plan high that way there are no surprises!

Yeah I think a rebuild or just a powerhead may be the way to go on that one. And that's IF it doesn't already run pretty decent as-is.

correct me if I'm wrong but if the motor has compression and good bearings then isn't everything else minor in comparison?

I wonder if you could find a similar motor with a blown power head for parts?

Pretty much, but I really won't know much until I can fire her up and let her run.

wow, I think I need one of these boats. its pretty much what I've been looking for. is there any wood in the boat or is it all composite?

I'm assuming from the name, its a 23' boat? how wide is it?

I don't think there's any wood. The only wood I've seen so far is just the cabin door and
livewell lid. Yes, she's listed as 23 feet. Looks longer though, I think when you factor in the bow pulpit and transom bracket she might be more like 26' (that's prolly gonna hurt when I have to pay for her slip). She has a 9'2 beam.
