I bought A 1990 Glastron Sierra in June of this year. I'm new to boat ownership and like most had no idea what to look for. The boat was at a local boat dealership and I was told it had been checked out and good to go. The first time out we had carburetor trouble barley making it back to the landing. I rebuilt the carburetor and we had a decent trip the next time we took it out. The last time the impeller went out and I was stuck bringing her in with the paddle. At this point I decided to take the boat down for the year and try to find all the gremlins. The further I tore into the boat the more I found. which brings me to where I currently am in the build deck out, transom out, and stringers cut out to the consoles.

I am to the point where I need some help. My transom was all the way across the back of the boat but only had foam on the sides. It has a tunnel at the back of the hull similar to Frisco's Glastron. I am considering changing the design of the transom to the tunnel so I can tab into the sides of the tunnel. I feel like this would add a good bit of strength to the transom. Also my boat has foam covered with fiberglass on the gunwales. Can I tab the deck into this or do I need to cut it out?

I'll try to get some pictures up soon.

Sounds very familiar!!! Pics will really help us to help you. You should not glass over the foam on the hull sides. Remove, grind down to fresh glass and then apply the new glass. Is this an I/O or and OutBoarf. What motor?

Woodonglass,

It is a I/O with the 3.0 Mercruser and Alpha one drive. How do I post some pictures?

Your pics are very small. How are you posting? R U using Photobucket? iBoats preferred size is 640 x 480
It's difficult to make out any details in such small pics.

Looks like you're copying the IMG code from the thumbnail photo in the album view. Click on the pic, open it up, then copy that IMG code.

When you upload your pics to PB. Once they are in the Album, hover over the pic and you will get this window...
IMGtag.jpg
The bottom box is the IMG Code. Click on the box and it will Flash "Copied". Now return to iBoats and Paste the code into your post. If you switch back to the Original version of PB you can have the Program automatically size your uploads to 640 x 480 which is the preferred size on the forum.
