On a related subject, I saw a video of a fellow making reed petals out of spring steel using salt water electrolysis. He primed the spring steel with self-etching primer and after it dried, traced the outline of the reed petals using an exacto knife to scratch away the paint along the outlone of the petals and center hole.
He then put a ss plate into plastic pan with the salt water. He scratched off some paint on the spring steel and attached the pos wire of a 3A battery charger to it, and the neg wire to the ss plate. 20 hours later, the spring steel that had the paint scraped off and was in the salt water was eaten away, and the reed petals could be separated with fingers.
Since utube is not known for its factual content, does anyone know if this would actually work? I had thought they used acid for this kind of etching.
