The slip rates are rather expensive at $4.35 LOA per foot. We are going to stay on the hook and sleep on the boat. We have an auto up - down windlass and our boat is on the heavier size around 10,000 lbs so it should be nice on the hook. If anyone wants to stay over and tie up with us you are more than welcomed. A good way to save money and also have more fun and privacy!

talking about the 29/30 I just got preempted, but if i can I live far enough west that I can go thru manhattan and drive out the island or out 84 to new London and cross the sound, its about 12 miles crossing, its just my seamanship that puts me in doubt.

So far I haven't had an RSVP to my PM from anyone so I guess the "official" count is 1.

here is a great site for weather on the sound i got from another forum
http://www.mysound.uconn.edu/index.html

Used to run a picnic for the Ski patrol, found attendance be lacking that weekend, lot of demand for people to do things, such as taking kid to college, and lots of conflicts, moved the party to the week end after/ 1st week end in Sept attendance doubled.

Hey, if no one else joins up, how about you and me go over to Gardners Island and do a hostile take over. Round up the residents and ferry them to mainland and declare independence from the USA. Contact the UN and declare ourselfs as a new nation. Then we set up our offices there, and let people register their yachts with us and reap the profits. Then we get someone to build a nuclear power plant and we sell the power to eastern LI at prices below the the going (rape) price and make a bundle.

Lots of money to be made from piracy!

Re: * 1st Annual iboats Long Island Sound Rendezvous *

I would like to do this trip in the future. I am still working the bugs out of my restore project, and 3 Mile is outside of my comfort range, if I am to bring my wife and kids.

I grew up and still live near Northport. If you guys are ever in the Huntington Bay / Northport Bay area, check out " Sand City " out at the end of Asharoken and Eaton's Neck. We tie up and party along the strip on the NPT Bay side ( sheltered better than Hunt Bay side ) near "the island".

Google Map "Hobart Beach Park, NY"

CT guys, don't worry about crossing the sound. I used to ride across chasing blues and stripers all the time in my old 15' Chrysler with a 25 HP. At New London/ Orient , its OK to cross. Just stick together and keep an eye on the weather. AVOID trouble at Plum Island, and hit Plum Gut just as the high tide ebbs. Get around Orient and hook SW for Peconic, past all the ferries and docks. Then head south for 3 mile. Plum Gut , under the right (or worse I should say) conditions, can be hairy with the rip and crosswind.

Have Fun All!

I hope you guys have a great time!!!

.... and now I myself must back out due to mechanical problems that will not allow the Thompson to make the 60 mile journey! I know Mark42 is still going and a few others still considering. Have a blast guys and take a bunch of pics!

I will still be watching over the thread so please let me know if there is anything I can do.

Hi Peter!

I'll be taking the Bayliner. Hope this hurricane out to sea passes soon so the water has a chance to calm down before this coming weekend. My sister told me today the waves on the East Hampton ocean beach are the largest she has ever seen there. She left to get her camera and take pics. So I guess things are a little rough out there right now.

I'm going out to Sag Harbor this afternoon to get a good day in Friday. Maybe Saturday AM will be nice too. The rest of the weekend is up in the air. All depends on the track the hurricane takes.

At this time I don't plan on being in 3 Mile Harbor this Saturday.
