Bought this boat as a first boat 38 days ago from a dealer who went through the boat and said she's good. $7500
This is a first boat for our family and we wanted to get a used boat for our first boat to make sure it's something we would enjoy doing then possibly upgrade to newer next year.
Well we went out on it Saturday all day and she ran great. Sunday I checked the oil figuring we've been on it 5 or 6 times now let's see if it's low. Oil looked great still had that newish oil feel and look not completely black yet....
Checked all my hoses and connections all looked good, sqeezed the water hoses to check for leaks ect....
Well we get to the Marina and start her up, we have our 13 yr old daughter with us and her friend who's never been on a boat so I give it a little speed to raise the front up to scare them. But all in all it runs and picks up speed great. Until I shut her down in the water to set up my inverter and pump up the tube for the kids. When I start it back up I notice the engine running a little weird and the battery voltage is low almost 11. I try to give it speed and it won't get speed at all so I stop and wait for the voltage to go past 12, get it going again and it starts slow but ends up gaining some speed after a bit.
Head back take her out the water. Battery voltage dropped to 10 on the last time I stopped to deflate the tube and let the kids on the boat again. Got home checked the battery it was at 85% full. I charge her up clean all connections and few days later I put it in and head down to the river. Put her in the river and tried to start it, starts hard and stalls battery shows 10 volts even though I know it's fully charged and good.
So just for the hell of it I pull the dipstick and it's milky color. Obviously water got in it some how, but to go from looking great Sunday before we went out to instantly milky maybe an hour on the water just doesn't make sense to me and I guess I'm praying I don't have a $8000 dollar lawn ornament now.
Any advise on things I can check before I dump her at a repair shop. I'm in NY so not a ton of volvo repair shops so I'm guessing when I drop it it will sit there long past the small boating season we get in NY.
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to give all info incase any of it might be why I'm having this problem.
