I would suggest hydraulic Trim Tabs if the boat is kept in the water, and electric if it is kept on a trailer or stored in a rack. 12x12 is the size I would install if it were my boat.

A little plug for Bennett, both our classic hydraulic Tabs and our BOLT electric Tabs have a lifetime warranty on the actuators regardless of the boat being kept in the water or not.

Let me know if you have any questions and I will be delighted to help.

Thank you sir . The boat will be stored mainly on my trailer unless in the lake or ocean . I live a hour from the lake an 300 miles from the beach . But for the best I guess I should use the hydraulic setup .

If you don't keep the boat in the water long enough to need anti-fouling paint I would choose our Electric BOLT system. Warrantied the same as the hydraulic and easier to install.

when I removed my cap onmy 1988 wellcraft the wood in the top of cap was rotted all around , they had air pockets everywhere like they just wrapped the wood and didn't bother beveling the wood or anything, it should be easy enough to replace , cut it out and put new there and bevel pb and wrap it

Pretty easy to fix. Cut some luan plywood into the proper size strips. It will bend really easy and conform to the shape of the rail. Glue the first layer using PB and Clamps. Once it's cured, use Titebond III wood glue to glue 2-3 more layers to get the thickness you need. You can make some really cheap clamps for this by cutting 2" pvc pipe into 2" wide pieces and then cutting one side so you can pull the littel circles open and use em as clamps. Here's a pic of what I mean.

The beam is 8' on that boat, is your trailer wider? Our trailer was no wider than the boat, the fenders were under the hull so no permit required.
