Congrats. How did you (and all that posted above) quit? My problem is that I'm not at the "100% I wanna quit" stage, but I'm closing in on it.
I had gotten to the point of having bronchitis about once a year. I felt a mild case of it coming on in April. I said to myself, you know what, @$%# this $%^&. I threw that last 1/2 pack away and didn't look back.
The withdrawal sucked for about 3 weeks. After that I still had cravings but reminded myself what I just went through and thought about the positive aspects of it.
Oh yea we started biking too. Both of us got new Trek hybrid bikes. (She quit smoking too!) So far our longest ride has been 26 miles. It's been so hot these last few weeks that we haven't ridden much. We do plan to ride some this weekend though.
We're about to finish up the 8 week beginners running plan at Runners World. The last day you run 30 minutes straight. That will happen this Saturday while we are camping in the North Georgia mountains. Should be interesting.
We ran on a track yesterday and it works out that I'm doing a little over 2.5 miles now. Yesterday was run 26 min, walk 1, run 3.
We're going to the Seafood Festival in Apalachicola FL on Nov 5th. It's a long time family tradition since my grandad was a shrimper from there. Anyway, they have a 5K race there every year called the Redfish Run. We're training to do that and maybe some more 5K races in the fall.
That's probably more than y'all wanted to know, but there it is!
