cant say how many times leeroys ramblings have saved me a headache or worse.......awsome little motor you got there treat her right and shell never let ya down!
ok.. i dont get it.. it not even wanting to turn over at all..
carb has gas, checked out the ignition, reset the points, have good continuity all the way to the plug.. just not wanting to attempt to turn over.. not even getting a sputter.. im lost..
i see where the breaker cam is supposed to touch the center spinal.. but the breaker points are supposed to be gaped?.. wish there was a video on this.. im not the type to read and comprehend well.. i need to see it done to do it..
the other end of the rocker is where the point is.your arrow is where the rocker rubs against the crankshaft. as the high spot on the crankshaft comes around the rocker arm is pushed and the other end with the contact backs off and makes a gap. see in the diagram "breaker points"
so the breaker points only touch when its at the high spot? and should be gaped .020 otherwise? should the rocker be rubbing the crankshaft at all times then too?
your main objective is that you set your point gap(using the adjustment screw) and that it touches at the right time because as soon as it touches, it will send a spark to the spark plug. that is simplified timing.

maybe im reading this wrong, but the points should be always closed until they get opened by the lobe on the points cam, ( usually where the keyway is located), thats where they should be gapped to .020. ( !!!plugs only fire when the points are open!!)
