Wow love the top on! Very cool looking! Wifes' gonna love that for keeping the sun off.

But I want warn you of something. I found on my Oxford that the windshield is so effective it it actually HOT behind it. You get absolutely no airflow sitting in the seats. Good in early spring and late fall but summer it's hot. I thought of removing my windshield but it ruins the classic look. Sure would be cooler though ...

Yours with the roof in place in a hot climate could be stifling! It would be neat to have a "push-up" ventilator in the roof like the old cowl vents on cars of the 40/50's ... remember? Yeah, I'm dating myself.

I'd be very hesitant to cut a hole in my beautiful top though. Probably couldn't bring myself to do it but its an interesting thought.

Looking good! Anxious to see it floating.

I was out with mine today for a few hours. Lotsa fun!

I think thats why Starcraft had a small push out vent (looked more like VW bus style push out) in the bottom center of the windshield, in a bimini top or anything w/ side curtains it could get stifling w/ no air flow. It may have been available on other boats......

The windshield is not the original . My older brother left it tied up were it could get caught under a dock with the tide coming in and it got smashed up .. I am pretty sure it had a hatch in the middle of the windshield that would open for ventilation..
I would love to have some type of hatch in the top that I could stand up through for better vision while docking and such..

I need some encouragement or some verbal abuse from you MFG guys it feels like I hit the ol restore wall !!
Been working on the seats over in my restore thread . Here is a very ruffly sewn mock up of a seat back ..The stitches look awful but I think I got that worked out for the real seats..

Here are the front and back panels sewn and cut out..

Gotta few more pieces to cut out and then make some piping and then I can hopefully make my version of some fun and sun seat...
Wish me luck ! :)

Hey sp ..... you know how I feel about them they look great. Besides, if your stitching is perfect everyone will think it is from the factory and not by you. Your work so far has been excellent and I know these will be also. Stitch 'em up, stuff 'em and mount 'em and ............. ( I can't believe that I am going to say this ) .......... GIT-R-DONE.

Holy smokes! They look fabulous! You should go in the business.

I'm curious ... what type of sewing machine to you have? Must be pretty heavy duty!

Thanks ,I have an old kenmore hd but it,s not near hd enough . If I ever do another seat project I will definitely upgrade my machine. 2 layers fine ,4 layers ok , 6 layers really really struggles .. Here is a vid if your interested..

I went over to NH to visit my parents weekend before last. My mother knew I have been wanting a commercial-type sewing machine for quite some time now. She had spotted one in an after-yard-sale pile a few weeks back. It was an old Kenmore with metal gears, the original manual, extra bobbins, original tool kit etc., and two or three sleeves of size 16 needles. No evidence of use or wear!

Glad to know the old kenmore will be up to the task!
